Water Blast/Dark maybe?

Not looking to go over builds or anything too specific, just a general comment. Trying to find what may pair well with Water Blast and I was thinking of giving Dark a try. Haven't tried /dark yet so not familiar with how it performs for Blasters. I see a lot of talk about Water/Fire (theme wise and aoe dmg wise).

Is there any glaring issues with paring WB/Dark together that I should know about?

Thanks!

I have a lvl 12 WB/Dark and I forsee her being a AoE blapper queen in later levels.

Whirlpool+Soul drain+Soul consumption+Tidal forces+water burst+Geyser(if they're even still alive) then dark melee the s*** out of the rest still standing.

Not to mention high survivability with the upcoming change to touch of fear(regen/recovery buff), then dehydrate (a damage/heal) and soul consumption(+end). I don't see it being bad at all.

Is whirlpool really that good? Because in all of my builds on Mids I have been skipping it. That and Steam spray.

It's equivalent to rain of fire and ice storm, so it's pretty good. The set has enough area attacks that you can easily skip one though.

OK, lvl 13 and finally got the chance to solo a bit (1-12 was DFB)

Early levels may be a pain endurance wise, but dayum the combo kicks butt, it plays faster than I expected. My current strategy is to stand about 60' away from baddies, cast whirlpool on self, and fire off two other TF builders then water burst. It's turning out to be a very effective combo, only needing you to clean up stray survivors afterwards. Later the aoe potential should only get better.

But ya, endurance reduction, slot it.

I must really think differently from most people about this because I would never consider skipping a slow that comes early in a set, especially if it does decent damage as well as being able to slot an Achilles.

Heck, toss in 5 parts of that new universal damage set including the (in this power) proc and the achilles proc and you have a whirlpool with a chance to reduce resistance AND knockdown while also imposing a -40% slow. If you're planning for purples, maybe the Ragnarok set with proc instead? There are quite a few ways to slot this, some better than others for Blasters.

With the way Procs are being changed to Proc-Per-Minute formulas, Achilles' Heel in Whirpool will most likely be a for-sure thing every time you drop it. Makes that power incredible awesome for a Blaster.

I've actually been weighing the idea of a Water/Dark myself as it or a Water/Cold Corr are the only two that have really interested me (haven't purchased Water yet, undecided). But Water/Dark can get a pretty nasty single-target chain going on with Smite > Dehydrate > Water Jet > Midnight Grasp > Water Jet (or something close to that). It cycles around the Tidal stacks nicely and as a straight-chain it work well with the added potential of Water Jet doubling up on occasion.

And for anyone interested, a Water/Dark build for Mids' I'm toying with.

I'd urge you to think about Water/Time corr that can soft-cap (and icap with claron), as well as get Geyser down to 30-35 second recharge.

I found */Time to be way too busy to keep pace with anything expecting to do DPS on any scale. I could see, maybe, focusing entirely on AoE capacity and teaming, but I'm partial to having some road to do my own damage as well. Without reliable pets somewhere in the equation, that's not likely. Besides that, I already have a Fire/Time Controller and I'm not much for repeating secondaries.

Well, I posted a Water/Kin build in the corr forums (on a thread about that). Less busy perhaps than time? FS+Geyser and perma PPP pet. Fun?

I swear I have looked and looked at blaster builds in MIDS and I just can't see anything that makes a blaster feel stronger/more interesting than a corr. Maybe I am missing something. Or its just my bias

I don't blame you for feeling "eh" about Blasters, as I do as well in most cases. That's why my alternative thoughts were towards a Water/Cold Corr.
