SS/TW/Claws/KM/DM/StJ/MA...

pick your poison...2 of the more popular brute combos on beta have been SS and TW...but that doesn't mean claws wouldn't be good...as a matter of fact...I am thinking of rolling a claws myself...but not sure about that just yet...we'll see...

My beta toon is SS/Bio brute...and he is pretty wicked.

You bumped a thread 39 minutes old, while it was still at the top of the forum o.O

Like most secondaries, Bio doesn't seem to particularly strongly favor any primary set. Pick the one you want.

I'm not sure you're going to get many helpful answers just yet (it's still going through changes). I'm not even completely sure what the rules are for discussing things in the open forums that are still in Beta, so some people might be hesitant to say anything on the set at all.

Best I can offer up is to roll up a few in Beta and do a little testing and maybe provide some feedback in the Beta forums. The more the better!

Its not a closed beta or anything, there is no NDA.

Personally my plan is to make a SS because looking through Mids it seems I need every power slot I can get and SS can get along with the fewest. (Plus I don't actually have an SS toon yet)

What do people think of Titan Weapons as a possible primary for Bio Armour? There may be too many powers needed out of both sets, but I don't have much experience with TW so I can't say.

I can't make up my mind at all with it.

I made a dark melee for some testing. I love StJ and was going to try it, but I've been running two of those Live so didn't want to mess with with again so soon. Kinetic doesn't feel right with the armor to me, but could be a cool idea.

I like the claws idea - especially if they gave us some sort of organic claw customization.

I thought about Staff, but thought it may look awkward...

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

R.I.P.
Chyll - Bydand - Violynce - Enyrgos - Rylle - Nephryte - Solyd - Fettyr - Hyposhock - Styrling - Beryllos - Rosyc
Horryd - Myriam - Dysquiet - Ghyr
Vanysh - Eldrytch
Inflyct - Mysron - Orphyn - Dysmay - Reapyr - - Wyldeman - Hydeous

I've been testing a SS/Bio for the same reason mentioned above, I don't have a lvl 50 SS character yet. It is probably what I will go with when the set goes live.

I do have a lvl 50 Staff Brute and I would wager that a Staff/Bio character would be about the most flexible combo you could put together. With the multiple 'forms' on both primary and secondary, you could adapt yourself (please excuse the pun) to just about any situation you'll find yourself in.

- Xyzor, Lightning.Rod, Kagyx - Rubber Mulch / Wholesale Candy - Freedom Server

Personally, I am planning a Claws/Bio, and secretly hoping that the Rularuu weapons go up on the market at some point so that I don't have to wait 30+ levels to get them.

Staff is a pretty good pairing. It's the ultimate fine-tuner combo. You can adjust to more situations more easily. Need more recharge here and more recovery? Turn on these toggles. Want more endurance discount and higher damage? Turn on those toggles. Want more damage and more damage? Well there's toggles for that, too!

Very fun combo.

Looking at the pre-nerf version in mids, man, that's a disgustingly complete resist set. Assuming it's available for scrappers, I'll probably make a spines/bio just to try it out.

Just so you know, any reports you've heard of nerfing were probably greatly exaggerated.

That scares me. With -res I wouldn't be surprised to see it surpass /fire for damage, and that's with no? holes in it's resists and an entire toy chest of a tool box.

Don't let it scare you either. It's not over powered, it has holes, and it's not capable of surpassing /Fire. It's good though, and the cries of nerfing it to hell were just a knee jerk reaction to some needed tweaks.

It has holes...and despite what he said...the knee jerk reaction was the first nerf...it was WAY underperforming at that point. It's fine now...it should do well, and add some flavor to the armor's we have available. I am excited for it now...and it will be fine.

Also, it has forms, and there are no E/N/F/C/Psi resists in any mode but defensive...

So there are significant holes in it still...

The -res is actually not all that potent...consider any toon can add reactive interface which is -res, also, nearly anyone can slot achilles proc, or gladiator fury proc, or both, and get a large -res going without even having bio armor. The Glad Fury proc can even be slotted into a damage aura. If it was an issue at all, I assure you they would've gotten rid of it.

Ahhh, that's the part I was missing in my first quick glance at it. Yeah, that pretty well changes everything.

It's kinda Willpowerish, in that it has S/L resist and exotic defenses, but not as much S/L defense and exotic resists.

What he's not pointing out is that if you're using all those forms to your advantage, you're not going to notice those "holes". Take an alpha with Defensive. When the burst damage has normalized, use Efficient. When you've wittled down the mobs some, use Offensive.

And calling a lack of Res for exotics outside of Defensive a "hole" is like saying Ice Armor has whole to S/L/E/N.

Besides, anything that can solo +2/x6 CoT on SOs, can't have it that bad off.
