Please help! I've been trying to build my monster toon for years. I want to be able to do everything! Specifically, hunt GM\AV and do 54x8 solo missions. I have other toons that can do one or the other but no one that can do both. I want to solo all the content on both sides on the same toon, so ability to exemplar is important. (I've done it before as a troller blue side and brute red side, this one will start gold and move around.) After much reading and playing on Mid's it looks like the MM is the best bet to pull this off. I have tried a bots\traps twice all the way to 50 with some luck but never quite got the results I wanted. Money and time resources are basically unlimited. I'm not an expert at binds\macros but I do use them. Concept and preference requires a science\tech theme and Robots primary. This build is Bots\Time but I could be convinced to use another secondary if there is a good reason. So with all that, back to the title, "is this the one" build that will do everything I want? Many thanks.

Given that the Assault Bot can keep his -regen going (Time's weakness, relative to AV/GMs) then sure, I don't why it wouldn't be "all that and a bag of chips"

I'd also seriously consider Bots/Traps. The only real downside is that many of the powers are location-based and fast-paced teams often zerg forward rather than draw mobs to the traps. Playing solo, however, that's not an issue, and you can absolutely solo on high difficulty and take on GMs with a Bots/Traps.

Thank you both for your replies. I have tried bots\traps and \time is new for me. What makes me worried is that def stats are only capped when power boost is up and its not perma. I have heard people suggest teleport instead of flight for this but this gave me a spot for some LoTG + Rech. Experience says a good soloist is great on teams. So no weaknesses?

Well PB is definitely up more than often enough to boost Farsight, which is where the majority of your buffable defense will come from, except for the S/L from Scorp Shield. You look like you're over on S/L by quite a bit so that should be okay. Don't forget that Protector Bot gives you some as well.

Just glancing at your build, you have Force Feedback in battle drones and assault bot. That won't really have any effect at all since pets can't have their recharge buffed. So unless you're planning on resummoning a LOT it seems like those slots could be used for something better.

I'd probably throw a lockdown proc in Time Stop just for kicks if I could free up a slot. Not too useful for GM soloing, but locking down bosses in other content is nice.

Out of curiosity, what did you find lacking from your previous attempts? Bots/traps is very stable and can achieve all your stated goals. Just wondering if there are things going on that a change in secondary would not necessarily address...

Edit: are you considering incarnate powers (none were included in your build)? If so, many combinations can achieve your design goals. Jibako has been doing well with a ninja/ff build. Many ----/dark builds are sufficiently sturdy.

Perhaps the OP isn't aware the *best* methods to play a bots/trap?

I will confess to a little bit of frustration with the *best* methods of control in my bots\traps attempts. I don't love the idea of using taunt, but it's hard to argue with the results. I'm still not great at dealing with macros and keybinds so that will be part of the focus on this attempt. I've read guides by Dech's, Sandolphan and several others but it still reads like VCR instructions alot. (This is actually part of the appeal, if I can make this beast behave then I know I will have conquered something.) And incididentally, I think this is the best arguement that MM's are balanced even with the rediculous potential they boast on paper.

I will look at moving the force feedback procs, probably into 2 Zephyr's on hover for some mobility.

My previous bots traps attempts: I couldn't make it live up to the hype. I threw a ton of money at the build. I may have PL'ed it up too fast, I don't remember, it's been sitting on the shelf for years. The character concept\story is interesting enough to me that I keep coming back to it, but I can't stand a toon that should be good but just isn't. Probably pilot error but there you go.

I like the Lockdown proc in AoE holds, better odds of it snagging someone, hence the set in Distortion Field, but I will consider it. The toon is a grand age of Lvl 6 as of yesterday so there's time to see what it will really need.

I'm working on the idea that if I can make the monster I want in the earlier levels then incarnate powers will only smooth out the edges. I don't wanna wait till 50 to be able to laugh maniacally!

Also, I've come across some scattered posts of the "Go To Command" or bind or macro or what-have-you. Is that different then this?:

Bots/time certainly will be capable of bringing the goods. If you have not leveled a mastermind from start to finish before, there's no better time than now. Getting the gist of the AT is getting a real feel for the metagame of controlling the pets. And each combination is subtly different with different tactics and approaches.

Don't have Mids' at the time, but I'll check out your build when I get to my home computer.

Looked over the build. You don't need set bonuses to boost defense numbers for regular content. Remember that the protector bot will offer an 11.74% shield to you (with two +5 defense IOs), and power boost is worth approximately 6% on top of farsight.

If you are building this character to run +4/x8 missions and hunt big game, you only *need* 45% defense numbers. Over that is overkill. If you are looking to soft-cap to incarnate content, you are just about there for S/L/E with very little effort.

(approximately with some boosters)

So PB's farsight - 21% (1 LotG + 3 cyto or membrane HO's)
ProtBot -11.7% (2 slots boosted)
Hover - 3% (2 slots: LotG recharge+ and def/end)
Weave - 7% (3 boosted LotGs)
Steadfast and Gladiator's - 6%

Before set bonuses or Scorpion's shield, you are sitting at 48% (and change) defense.

Scorpion's Shield adds (with 1 LotG recharge) 15.6% S/L and 10.4% energy, essentially at the incarnate softcap level for S/L/E.

Unless you are trying to softcap a position or fire/cold/psionic/negative, you will not need to chase any defense set bonuses.

As for farsight - overslotted. Leave the LotG and toss in 3 cytoskeleton's (buffs def, end, and +hit: all good things the power does) - 2 slots saved.

Weave is over-slotted for what you're getting. maybe 3 LotG (3 slots saved)

Codewalker is absolutely on the money about the force feedback procs in the pets: pets do not benefit from recharge buffs and you will not see any benefit from the procs should they go off.

Your protector bots are basically useless to you as slotted- no enhancements to their attacks at all. Are you using them purely as mules?

Lastly, there is no reason even with a moderate budget NOT to have perma hasten.

You have good start. I'm sure getting this character together will be lots of fun

Wow, thanks for the numbers Nyghtmaire. Lots of things I'm going to have to re-evaluate. I haven't found Prot bots offensive numbers to be that impressive in the past, it seemed like the best use to me to turn him into a mule. They don't draw alot of aggro and it helps keep a little more regen when I split stances for Assault Bot and Drones on aggressive and Prots on BG. I didn't realize I was not at perma hasten since the global recharge is so high. One more rech IO brings it in line. Your suggestions make a lot of sense but it kinda throws me back to square one for a while. I'm going to have to play in mids some more and see if I can squeeze a little more performance out of it. I never really think of using Hami O's, not sure why. However, since this is the "make the ultimate" goal I guess its not out of the question. I just looked at the market and there were some Cytoskeletons available for the taking at about the same price as some of the purple sets. I have maybe half of this stuff sitting either in storage or on alts I don't play but collecting the rest will take quite a bit of time and money.

If anyone has a better build to post that would be appreciated. Thanks again.

So the trick seems to be the timing of powerboost. Since the boosted power numbers will last at the duration of the power not the duration of powerboost, since its only 15 seconds I think. I'll post an updated build later after I read a little more carefully.

Re worked the build. Some things look exciting and some kind of concern me. After plugging in some of the advise and looking at some of the recommended builds I found my self with several free power choices and slots. Traded leadership for fighting pools and ended up with much higher global recharge and +to hit rating. What kind of bothers me, no real resistance what so ever, and the defense numbers seem a little low before powerboost which I can't have until level 41.

Am I splitting hairs now?

Some quick observations:

- Your Hasten is perma with 2 level 50 IOs. This gives you a freebie slot
- Soulbound Allegiance bonuses are bogus beyond the 3rd slot. The 4th slot is +dmg and you don't have any attacks. The 5th slot is hold resist. So for the Assault Bot I would suggest to take out 2 of the purples and add in the new kb to kd proc, maybe also include the Overwhelming Force acc/dmg to get the Regen bonus.
- In Slowed Response, you selected Undermined Defenses. If you're chasing aoe defense, I might suggest Shield Breaker to get some accuracy in there, while maintaining the 2.5% aoe with only 4 slots. While your accuracy bonuses are good enough to have the chance tohit exceed 95% against +3s, it's by a fairly thin margin, so a tohit debuff would have a noticable effect.
- With the free slot from Hasten, I think I'd add a 6th to Drones, move the Edict IO to this slot and put an acc/dmg HO into prot bots, just to make them more damaging.
- This is a personal preference and you may not like it, but I'm so not a fan of 6 slotting slows. I personally would want to move all those slots to Scorp Shield, which is a fairly big source of end consumption with no endo slotting. I'm assuming you were chasing the ranged def bonus from Tempered Readiness. Moving all those slots to Scorp Shield and using Red Fortune ups that ranged bonus a tad. This is at a cost of a net loss of 6.25% recharge (7.5% from lotg + 3.75% TR - 5% RF). While that's a bummer, on a very high recharge build, it's not so noticable. If you value the recharge over the ranged def you can go 5 RF + LOTG.

I've attached the build with these modifications, except in Assault Bot I wasn't able to actually slot Overwhelming Force, so put in a couple of stand-ins.

Wow, I love the forums! I think I started well but it ends up looking just elegant.

I think when I was rebuilding this with the new suggestions I ended up with several extra slots that needed a home, which lead to the mess in time crawl. It's difficult for me to absorb the idea that the knockback + rech or Soul Bound + damage procs wont benefit the
pets, while others will.

Deacon_NA, Justaris, Nyghtmaire, Codewalker, dmurray: you are all gentleman scholars! I look forward to many hours of maniacal fun with this creation. I will continue checking this thread for a while just incase anyone else finds a way to squeeze a little more performance out but it looks like this will suit my needs very well. Thank you all.

One more thing to think about, and this is really fine tuning, nothing of real consequence.

For Time, I always 4-slot Dark Watchers in TJ, as in the build above. I like one of them to be the -rch proc. The effect of additional -rch is exponential and worth stacking when you can.

Distortion Field has a -50% recharge debuff. That means an enemy npc attack that takes 5 seconds to recharge will now take 5/(1-.5) = 10 seconds to recharge. Add in another .25 debuff and that shoots up to 20 seconds. If I were to have one extra slot for a Timer that I just absolutely had no idea what to do with, I'd also throw in a Pacing of the Turtle -rch proc into TJ too. If both those procs were to hit, after the alpha you could go make a sandwich and enemies would still only be looking at you mean while moving around verrrry slowwwwwly by the time you added the mustard. Yes it would be overkill for even cons since the -rch max is .75, but still useful against higher levels.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about the Basilisks -rch proc too. Distortion Field is autohit, so slotting that proc over say, acc/rch would provide a chance to hit more mobs and/or max out the effect.

Again, very minor, just food for thought.
