  1. LSK, I apologize if I somehow slighted you or minimized your contribution. Hopefully, I am just misreading the intended message.
  2. EJI, your kind of reading my mind, and a new opinion is always helpful. I've been wondering about those specific questions as well. I included the PVP + Res partially because I already had it. This and the tank ATO + Res lead me to push for as much resistance as I could get in my original build. This is very interesting. I did a small tweak on what you did, moved the rech IO on build up to the 5th slot of RA in tough.

Any other ideas would be welcomed.
  3. Wow, a much cheaper build and with better numbers....

Any other improvements would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Thank you for the reply.

Missing the rule of 5.....dang. I kind of hate the rings flying around behind me from CJ, however, I can deal with it. I'm curious why you don't like using purples, LSK? Aside from the cost I don't usually find a down side. Can you show exactly what you would do instead of the purples?

I like the higher defense numbers.
  5. I've been looking for my super tank forever. I've tried lots of different combos, specifically shield\SS, stone\fire, wp\electric, and a previous wp\fire all the way to 50 as well as several other alts.

I have most or all of the materials in this build already, but lets assume unlimited resources. Enhancement boosters, Purples, PvPs, HOs etc are all fair game. I am hoping for the "do it all build," good solo (hopefully at +4x8 but I'm not that worried about that difficulty), phenomenal on teams, maybe even AV\GM soloing (don't know if tanks can even do that.) Also, please point out if there will be a certain group that will prove difficult.

Nothing in the build is capped but lots of stuff is very high: defense, regen, resistance and recharge were the priorities I went after. For incarnates, I exemplar alot on my toons, so I would like to make sure I'm as powerful as possible before 50. For the high end game please suggest whatever you think is best. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

  6. Pyrocide

    Am I Uber yet?

Thank you for the reply and comments. I had Dark Embrace in previous versions of the build but I could never get the recharge high enough without incarnate powers. Do I have to wait till 50 before this thing gets trully powerful?
  7. Pyrocide

    Am I Uber yet?

Please help me max out this build. Lets go for the unlimited resources criteria. I want to be able to provide whatever damage is called for on a team: lots of AoE, strong single target, but also strong survivability solo. If possible lets go for the AV\GM killer. Any help that can be offered would be appreciated.

  8. Wow, I love the forums! I think I started well but it ends up looking just elegant.

I think when I was rebuilding this with the new suggestions I ended up with several extra slots that needed a home, which lead to the mess in time crawl. It's difficult for me to absorb the idea that the knockback + rech or Soul Bound + damage procs wont benefit the
    pets, while others will.

Deacon_NA, Justaris, Nyghtmaire, Codewalker, dmurray: you are all gentleman scholars! I look forward to many hours of maniacal fun with this creation. I will continue checking this thread for a while just incase anyone else finds a way to squeeze a little more performance out but it looks like this will suit my needs very well. Thank you all.

  10. Re worked the build. Some things look exciting and some kind of concern me. After plugging in some of the advise and looking at some of the recommended builds I found my self with several free power choices and slots. Traded leadership for fighting pools and ended up with much higher global recharge and +to hit rating. What kind of bothers me, no real resistance what so ever, and the defense numbers seem a little low before powerboost which I can't have until level 41.

    Am I splitting hairs now?

    http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...C1D53F965EF121
  11. So the trick seems to be the timing of powerboost. Since the boosted power numbers will last at the duration of the power not the duration of powerboost, since its only 15 seconds I think. I'll post an updated build later after I read a little more carefully.
  12. Wow, thanks for the numbers Nyghtmaire. Lots of things I'm going to have to re-evaluate. I haven't found Prot bots offensive numbers to be that impressive in the past, it seemed like the best use to me to turn him into a mule. They don't draw alot of aggro and it helps keep a little more regen when I split stances for Assault Bot and Drones on aggressive and Prots on BG. I didn't realize I was not at perma hasten since the global recharge is so high. One more rech IO brings it in line. Your suggestions make a lot of sense but it kinda throws me back to square one for a while. I'm going to have to play in mids some more and see if I can squeeze a little more performance out of it. I never really think of using Hami O's, not sure why. However, since this is the "make the ultimate" goal I guess its not out of the question. I just looked at the market and there were some Cytoskeletons available for the taking at about the same price as some of the purple sets. I have maybe half of this stuff sitting either in storage or on alts I don't play but collecting the rest will take quite a bit of time and money.

If anyone has a better build to post that would be appreciated. Thanks again.
  13. I will confess to a little bit of frustration with the *best* methods of control in my bots\traps attempts. I don't love the idea of using taunt, but it's hard to argue with the results. I'm still not great at dealing with macros and keybinds so that will be part of the focus on this attempt. I've read guides by Dech's, Sandolphan and several others but it still reads like VCR instructions alot. (This is actually part of the appeal, if I can make this beast behave then I know I will have conquered something.) And incididentally, I think this is the best arguement that MM's are balanced even with the rediculous potential they boast on paper.

I will look at moving the force feedback procs, probably into 2 Zephyr's on hover for some mobility.

My previous bots traps attempts: I couldn't make it live up to the hype. I threw a ton of money at the build. I may have PL'ed it up too fast, I don't remember, it's been sitting on the shelf for years. The character concept\story is interesting enough to me that I keep coming back to it, but I can't stand a toon that should be good but just isn't. Probably pilot error but there you go.

I like the Lockdown proc in AoE holds, better odds of it snagging someone, hence the set in Distortion Field, but I will consider it. The toon is a grand age of Lvl 6 as of yesterday so there's time to see what it will really need.

I'm working on the idea that if I can make the monster I want in the earlier levels then incarnate powers will only smooth out the edges. I don't wanna wait till 50 to be able to laugh maniacally!

Also, I've come across some scattered posts of the "Go To Command" or bind or macro or what-have-you. Is that different then this?:

Many thanks again to all for the assistance.
  14. Thank you both for your replies. I have tried bots\traps and \time is new for me. What makes me worried is that def stats are only capped when power boost is up and its not perma. I have heard people suggest teleport instead of flight for this but this gave me a spot for some LoTG + Rech. Experience says a good soloist is great on teams. So no weaknesses?
  15. Please help! I've been trying to build my monster toon for years. I want to be able to do everything! Specifically, hunt GM\AV and do 54x8 solo missions. I have other toons that can do one or the other but no one that can do both. I want to solo all the content on both sides on the same toon, so ability to exemplar is important. (I've done it before as a troller blue side and brute red side, this one will start gold and move around.) After much reading and playing on Mid's it looks like the MM is the best bet to pull this off. I have tried a bots\traps twice all the way to 50 with some luck but never quite got the results I wanted. Money and time resources are basically unlimited. I'm not an expert at binds\macros but I do use them. Concept and preference requires a science\tech theme and Robots primary. This build is Bots\Time but I could be convinced to use another secondary if there is a good reason. So with all that, back to the title, "is this the one" build that will do everything I want? Many thanks.

  16. I think I have afew things that I can add.

    1) Adding enhancement boosters to your purples or level 50 IOs can add a dramatic boost to effectiveness. I don't know how to show the effect of boosters in Mids but I wen't from being very end efficient to being able to run myself dry because of how fast I could throw out the attacks. I boosted all of the purples in my build. The damage difference in Phantom Army after I took the purples to +5 was dramatic.

    2) Think about adding the vet staffs to the single target rotation. (I'm assume you have them.) It does have weapon draw as part of it but from my experience against hard targets sometimes the Nemesis Staff and Blackwand was the difference. My build does use the fire APP, and I know you were asking about using Soul. Consume does a great job at what it does. Its large range means that I don't have to get too close in melee if I don't want to.

I didn't worry about defense on my build. I am very pleased with mine, however, any comments to make him more powerful would appeal to my greedy nature. (First attempt to post a build)

  17. I have done this with my ill\rad troller blue side and a EM\Electric brute redside. Please forgive me if I repeat what others have already said. Here's what I did and what I would suggest:
    1. Have a finished 50 check the mission levels at Oroboros
    2. Level your toon to one level below that. This gives you much more power to deal with mobs that get stronger as you move along this path.
    3. Turn off exp until all of your contacts are completed.
    4. Get the temp powers from Wentworths. (quality of life when you play like this is important)
    5. Be careful what your difficulty settings are. I was set at +0/x1 with AV with bosses (the brute was much different)
    6. Become a serious loner
    7. Do the bank missions and side content too, play other toons when you get frustrated, your adopting a lifestyle not playing a game when you approach it this way
    8. The repeatable contacts are something to be careful of but you will usually see the same missions come along before too long. The thing to be careful of is that I think (not sure) there are some that show up in the 30s and then more and more as you get higher level.
    9. I assume you are doing this for badges, there are multiple lists around that can show you where these badges are so you don't miss them by accident. Do alot of reading.
    10. If you have the /auctionhouse, /vault commands go ahead and get the crafting accolade as soon as possible. Your going to generate a lot of salvage and recipes, this will let you craft them on the fly instead of having to waste time clearing out inventory.
    11. Enjoy!
  18. I come from a ill\rad troller background and while I do have some lvl 50 melee toons, none have really held my attention the way the troller did.
I am looking for an all arounder, very hard to kill, tears through bad guys, exemps, etc. I'm hoping certain slotting options will make this able to handle bosses well. (I've heard that's a weakness.)

I tried to go for as much regen, defense, recharge and damage as possible, in that order. I have heard that the 4th slot in the Numina set is wasted on regen toons as it is classified as healing instead of regen. That's why things like fast healing are only 3 slotted. I was planning on using enhancement boosters on Haste to bump that up to perma and beyond. (By the way, will those work on set IOs as well?)

I'm not afraid of purples, pvp sets etc. Please don't shy away from expensive sets. Whatever the "Ultimate" version is, is what I'm after.

    Thanks for any input.
    Pyro.

  19. Local Man, thank you for the reply! I confess to being a little star struck.

Back to business: Can you post a build of your Elec\Shield scrapper? How did you finish him off? Do you feel the single target weakness is hard enough that it will hurt you solo? Can it handle bosses? What is his solo difficulty setting?

Anyone else that has opinions that would like to throw something else on the table is invited to contribute.
  20. Thank you for the reply!

I don't mind expensive, I'm not super rich but I know how to make enough money to get what I need. I would love to see a build whenever you can get to it. Feel free to throw Purples or PvP enhancements on it if it will increase productivity.
  21. I've played a ill\rad troller for years. He's a "finished" character that solos AVs\GMs, is perma PA, RA, Hasten, exemps really well etc. It's easy to feel like I'm playing a Green Lantern/Dr Strange/Dr Fate character.

My problem is that I want something different that has the feel of power that my troller does. I want a Superman feeling character, (not just a flying brick, Captain Marvel, Thor, lots of different characters out there fit the bill). Also, Local Man provides so much information you always know what to do next. Basically, slot for recharge and you will at least be ok. (I know that's over simplifying.)

I've tried lots of combos, Willpower with /fire,/electric/energy/dark/super strength, Invul and Shield with most of the same, and Granite with fire, dark, and ice. You get the point. I've had some lvl 50 tanks and brutes, tried scraps, stalkers, and even built a bots\traps MM and fire\kin troller.

I'm hoping that the melee sages out there can give me some direction. I'm leaning towards a tank but not committed. I want a new all arounder and I'm hoping that this will generate some good alternatives.

Here's the question (finally). What is your favorite characeter\build and what's the appeal? Please include builds if you can, or at least links.
