The Alphabet Soup of the DCnU

For those of you who don't know, I am a dyed-in-the-wool DC Comics fanboy. Superman has been my favorite character since I was old enough, followed closely by Batman...and you can see I have a strong affinity for Green Lantern as well.

Anyway like many old schoolers I've suffered through many of the roadbumps of the post-Flashpoint DCnU. I'm not going to rehash what many folks have already brought up, nor am I going to beat any dead horses. But fergawdsake, what is it with the barrage of acronym agencies? A.R.G.U.S., S.H.A.D.E., N.O.W.H.E.R.E...I know there's a few I'm missing now. Is it me, or does the acronym agency idea already seem like a great concept that's already been run into the ground?

(Apologies, of course, to U.N.C.L.E. and S.H.I.E.L.D.)

(P.S. Someone else can address the overabundance of "Tron suits")

There has actually been a world wide shortage of acronyms in recent years. A new agency, A.S.A.P.U.L.N.A. or the American Society for the Advancement and Preservation of Unecessarily Long and Nonsensical Acronyms recently gathered to discuss the creation of new acronyms to help the world through this dire shortage.

Personally, I blame Dave Barry.

Linkara pointed out doing his reviews of new 52 there like at least 10 secret acronyms named groups in the new DC now..

"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.

I stick manly to the "Bat" books (not all of them) and have given up on the rest of the DCnU...With them pulling this cancel a number of books after they reach their 12th issue...wth? So....they are doing maxi-series now? They should be ashamed that they renumbered Detective Comics, Batman and the other books that had really high number counts. No other comic book company could claim that they truly had a comic approaching issue 1,000! As corny as this sounds...I really hope they go back to the original numbering on the core books.

As far as acronyms goes...meh...I dont really read those books and yet I understand what people are getting at.
