NC Soft launcher Issue
You could set the Launcher to shut itself down when you start a game, and set it to not start itself when you boot the computer (both options are in the Advanced settings in the launcher, IIRC). That'll make it so that you never have the Launcher running in the background.
I'm not sure what's causing the issue, so if you want to keep the program running in the background, I don't know what to suggest.
@Roderick
OK, that worked well enough. However, now that I'm opening it more, I should probably fix this issue...
At some point I followed some directions to access the Beta server that involved changing the Target of my NC Soft Launcher shortcut.
The target is currently: "D:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=CohBeta
Which opens the launcher, and immediately starts launching the beta. I usually just click cancel, and then switch to the actual game link. However, if there is a patch to download on the beta, this creates all sorts of issues
So, what can I change about that target to simply open the NC Soft Launcher and not auto-load either the beta nor the game? And not lose my access to the Beta server?
Thanks.

The problem is the launcher itself doesn't play nicely with Windows sleep functionality.
If your computer is going to stay up and running, it's bad enough. The launcher has various leaks in it that'll eventually cause it to crash anyhow.
Trying to get it to survive sleep mode is about as likely as enjoying a vasectomy with a chainsaw.
If you want to bring up the launcher, just remove /LaunchGame=WHATEVER.

Or, you can make a new shortcut and change it to this:
"D:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=CityOfHeroes
This will launch the regular game. I have one like this on my desktop. I only start the launcher directly if I want to access Test or Beta, or if I need to patch one of the installs.

Yeah I've noticed that the launcher has issues recently too.
I usually leave it up when I leave for work (just in case a patch comes!) but I come back and it's just "Not Responding."
It seems I can't leave it up for more than 30 mins or an hour before it locks itself up. (haven't really timed it myself just some guessing on time)

And it's good to hear that it isn't just a problem I'm dealing with. I was afraid I had some bad issues going on behind-the-scenes.

My NC Soft Launcher freezes every time I leave my computer idle and unattended until it goes to sleep. I'm then forced to shut the launcher via the Task Manager. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a Known Issue? Is there anything I can do to prevent the issue?
Thanks.
