I've been trying to update MIDs to Issue 23 but when I try I get a "cannot write to dll file" error message. Any tips from the fans?

Thanks in advance.

WinVista/7?

UAC turned on?

Installed to default location? (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mids?)

Try uninstalling Mids, and clearing the directory (move any builds you have in there).

Then reinstall clean to a place not affected by UAC and system permissions.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Builds are stored in the user's default documents folder and the program knows to look there after installed.

For Windows 7 the folder that contains the saved builds by default is in C:\Users\(username)\My Documents

The nice thing is, if you uninstall Mids it doesn't delete the folder with the saved builds.

For my personal taste: I just turn off User Access Control in Windows because I got sick of it asking me "The program wants to make changes to your computer, is this OK?". Ant it isn't just CoH or Mids. It's many programs the UAC kicks in on, and that's with it set to the default medium setting. Nobody but me uses my computer at home and I run as an administrator.

To the OP, you can always uninstall Mids and go here http://www.cohplanner.com/
Grab the latest version, 1.957, and reinstall. Hope that helps.

If you want to chance it, you can just turn off UAC in Windows.

What?

You mean when people have a problem with Mids they should post it on the Titan Networks forums in the Mids section?

Who'd of thunk it.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Well, we're all fans of the game, so most of us browse these forums at least semi-frequently too. To be honest, though, I'm not a Mids expert, so if my sort of off-the-cuff answer doesn't cut it, someone like Diellan or GuyPerfect could probably provide a more learned expert analysis.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
