Sonic/Sonic - How to complete the Build?
I'm not sure if I could really recommend Sonic/Sonic for a solo build... but you'll do great on Teams, for sure.
I'd try to fit in Maneuvers, Hasten (maybe not, though? Weave is a good power to shoot for, and Hasten won't help your pri much.).. maybe swap SS for SJ, and pick up Acrobatics. *NM on Acrobatics, I was thinking Sonic Dispersion was Resistance, for a sec. You'll definitely want some KB reduction IOs, though.
If you're not opposed to swapping to Villains, Scorpion Shield would make a good toggle to pick up.
-Proud leader of Captain Planet's Magical Friends
Sonic/Sonic, is perfectly viable for solo and team play. Just as long as your solo expectations aren't to run +4/x8 easily, or for super rapid farming, etc.
I would try to get maneuvers added in, or alternately, swap one of your pools for fighting, as Virus suggested. The Scorpion Shield is also a good idea, as it would make a s/l/e softcapped build fairly easy.
I normally wouldn't suggest it, but for the phantom theme, the Phase Shift power might be nice. It can be used as a Hibernate substitute, and can be used to take an alpha, too. Invis doesn't allow you to attack, so I might consider the +Stealth proc and stealth, instead. When they are stacked this way (or with Super speed, too) it grants the same effective level of sneaky as invisibility, but doesn't prevent ya from fighting that way.
Your primary isn't a lot of use solo for survivability, so I'd make sure to get Sonic Dispersion maxed out asap. Liquify isn't the best T9 either, but it can turn the tide in a tight fight. I might be tempted to slot it for recharge, acc, and maybe tohit debuff. Might also be a nice place for the Chance for +2 mag hold, and or the Purple KD proc. I'd consider using 4 of one of the accurate tohit debuff sets and then a proc or 2. Make sure to get what use you can out fo your primary when solo, tho. If you have a minor combat buff pet, like the shield drone, summon that, shield it, and hang the Disruption Field on it and drag it into a fight when you need even more oomph. But that thing is an end hog, beware.
I wouldn't spend 2 slots on clarity, myself, nor 3 slots on Invis for end reduction, since you can't use an attack while invis is up anyhow.
I'd try and get the defender ATE slots into the build someplace, especially the proc, as a nice little heal will help out.
Well, hope that helps some.
Good timing to ask this. I've got my mind on my Sonic/Sonic right now as I'm finally rebuilding to adjust to the recent HO "fix". I had slotted the 2 ally shields with Centrioles so I need to change that. Further I wanted to add in the Defender ATO set.
Here is where the build stands now. It is a work in progress as there are things I'm not content with, such as having too much -kb as a result of pursuing other bonuses. Regardless of whatever fine-tuning I end up doing, my objectives were to soft-cap ranged def, hard-cap s/l resists and do what I could to mitigate psi. Given that Liquefy is the only power that benefits from recharge, I decided not to make a high recharge build. Liquefy is good when it's up, but not worth structuring a build around, my opinion.

I could be cobbling up memories of other -resistance powers. I think that the 14.9 base duration in screech applies to the 20% -resistance as well. It's very effective as a single target stun, and if I recall the duration on the -resistance, makes it very useful in stripping the resistances of hard targets.
If you are fighting particularly nasty minions or lieutenants like scrappers or voids, the mag 3 stun is screech is highly useful.

Also... this is great if you want to run dual builds. One solo build opening up room for pools, a full secondary, etc. and one team one with more emphasis on shielding, debuffs, support and the like.
(Which, yes, is what I did with mine.)
So, the main suggestions are to have a team and a solo build, rather than trying for 'one build to rule them all', and to build for Stealth, instead of using Pool Invisibility - since that is useless in combat. Then build up on Defense and... profit.
That certainly makes a different sort of Defender!

Be Well!
Fireheart
If you have the time, and the inf, and the inclination, yes, 2 builds would be a smart way to go. I'd prefer to spend more on one top-end, versatile build than to spend less on two specialist builds. And I can't justify the time and expense of making 2 top end builds for 1 alt...
But that is because I have dozens of other alts clamouring for my time and attention, tho, so if you're less alty and/or more time and inf rich than 2 builds really is the best way to get the most out of one alt.
And yeah, I can't see why someone would take Invis if they are taking Super Speed anyhow unless you want it as a set mule.
Looking at what you have in your most recent build post, that looks like a pretty decent start. To my taste, I'd take Assault or Amplify later and move the Fighting pool stuff up a notch sooner, but that's a very minor nitpick based on my personal preference, so feel free to ignore that entirely. If you get it more fleshed out, feel free to post what you come to,a nd I'll try to make more helpful comments when I have more specifics to look at. If you want me to try and through together a build, let me know, but all my builds end up very much influenced by my tastes unless I've teamed with ya enough to be able to guess your play style or at least seen the direction you are trying to get in.
I'd first and foremost aim for the Thunderstrike set.
Do a respec and take those 3 extra slots out of Sonic Siphon and place them in Shriek, Scream and Shout. Then six slot all three with Thunderstrike for a big boost to recovery, accuracy and ranged defence, to say nothing of the bonuses for the actual powers.
Recharge isn't going to be a huge deal, with Liquefy being the one power that really needs speeding up in this build.
I'd build for ranged defence.
Make sure Dispersion and Sonic Haven/Barrier are well slotted for damage resistance - maybe the best set for this is Aegis, which offers a lot of AoE defence for 5 slots. Also drop the Steadfast Protection +Res/Def unique in one of the ally shields to get more defence for yourself.
I'm not sure where to fit the Defender ATO set. Its good to have the minor heal proc in there, since Sonic Resonance slows down damage but never really prevents it, so even small heals are very effective backup? Howl? Does anyone know how it acts with AoEs?
I wouldn't bother with Phase Shift, just use the Ethereal Shift temp power from the market for emergencies when you're solo. On a team, you Phase Shifting can drop ally's mez protection and so on, so I wouldnt advise it as a regualr tactic.

I have no idea, and haven't heard a good concrete answer on how exactly the Def ATE Proc works in AoEs. So I'd be concerned about putting it in one. If Screech was in the build, I'd slot it for Stun, the add the proc in there, but Screech isn't in there. (Which I might want to try to add in, but where?) But yes, I'd try and get that proc in there somewhere, for exactly the reason Doc Harm stated. Sonic is quite tough, and if you get nice defense to go with the resists, it will be quite durable, but an occasional minor heal might make a big addition.
As for Phase Shift... Very good point on it dropping the protection from Sonic Dispersion for your teammates. As I said, it is very situational, and that is one of the things that you need to be aware of. But, Ethereal Shift isn't an identical replacement. For one, there are times when temps won't be available to you. iTrials specifically come to mind. Second, Ethereal is a clicky. When you click it, you're phased and out of action for 30 seconds. No more, no less. Phase Shift has the noticeable advantage of being able to untoggle whenever you want (but you're still capped to max 30 seconds per usage of intangible). If you don't want to spend the power pick on Phase for what is very situational, though, I can totally understand that. I almost never take it myself. When I do, tho, I find that being able to untoggle as soon as you are ready to be a big advantage. That said, Hyper Phase is another temp that acts just like Hyper Phase as far as I can recall. It still won't be available to you when temps are restricted, but it does act as a toggle. You can get Hyper Phase from doing a Patrol in Warburg.
More details on that are here....
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Warzon...Braun#Missions
Note: The above shows the villain version of that patrol mission, but the hero side one is completely identical.
Decided to try and put together a Sonic/Sonic build for ya. It's a pretty high end build, so it'll cost of you make use of it.
There are several things that can be swapped around for different preferences.
It's got 3 mini-heals built in, one the PBAOE that will even help out team mates. Lots of mitigation in the form of KD and mezzes. Capped s/l/e with some extra room to spare even to take some sting out of minor def debuffs. A small purple will get ya within 1% of capped n/f/c. Of course, it's got pretty decent resists, too.
I kept most all the same power choices you had, except I had to lose assault (well, I choose to, you can always add it back in and lose something else). It has enough recharge that Liquify and Amplify are up over 25% of the time.
It's a little rough on the blue bar before Cardiac, but after should be golden, especially if you ge the +End accolades. Pre-incarante, and while teaming, you'll have to choose if all out attacking, or maintaining the Disruption Field at all times are your main priority. You likely won't be able to do both all out 100% of the time. After Cardiac, you proibably won't have to make that choice. Using tactics judiciously will help that, tho.
I think this would be a very nice solo and team build, but you could tweak it for more performance for either, but to me the cost couldn't be worth the gains. I guess if this because you main, that make be a different story, tho.
I'd use do a Red Inspire, Sirens, Amplify, Liquify, Dreadful Wail, Blue Inspire, retoggle, chain for your big boom for max effect and max safety. Should be doable every 2nd or 3rd group. And the Liquify should protect ya during the crash.
Me persoanlly, I might drop the big boom and shuffle some other things and maybe get the pet from the PPP, but I don't think that would fit your theme, and might not really even be worth it. I've not tried the Def Scorpion pet before, so I don't know how he works, but it'd at least give ya a decent place to hang the Disruption Field when solo. Like I said, lots of tweaks can be made to make this suit a particular play style, but I tried to keep it in line with what I saw on you builds.
Well, let me know what ya think/like/dislike.

This fellow is supposed to be a phantom, so he has Invisibility. He is intended for solo and team success in PvE content. Currently at level 32, the Build goes a little farther.
However, it is not complete and I'm not entirely sure what enhancements to shop for. I'm looking for advice and guidance that can carry me through the next 20 levels.
