Phantom vs Cimeroran Lore Pets...

I usually use my Longbow Tier 4 Lore pet but I have been thinking about building a new one and its between these two. According to the DPS on the Paragon Wiki:

Cimerorans are 398 and Phantoms are 267.

This is a pretty significant gap. Aside from DPS, what pros would Phantoms have (Besides aesthetics) over Cimerorans? Are they more range DPS? Different damage type? More survivable?

NOTE: I would be going the damage side not the buffing side.

Phantoms would do Psi or smashing/energy, cims lethal. Cims can crit and have that nice -def debuff. Phantoms knock things around. Phantoms have a better buff, if you go radial. Other than that, no reason to go for anything other than Cims if you only care about damage.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Those DPS numbers are from a pylon text, if the tests where done against something like a Malta Titian, with a ton of Lethal resist the numbers would be a lot closer. My phantoms are 2/3 fire/ice damage and 1/3 lethal damage.

The biggest problem I have with Phantoms is they have so few attacks. A slow, something as common as webnade is just going to kill their DPS, where as a Cimeroran which has 5 or 6 attacks isn't going to be standing around idle.

Cimerorans also seem to have a smarter AI, they seem to always run into melee and start stabbing enemies. My phantom seems to think he is a ranged fighter, even though he only has one ranged attack.

The only thing my phantoms handles better then my cimrorans is knockback. My phantom spends half the time flying, so if he gets knockbacked he'll just do a little flip. My cimerorans just go ragdolling.

As a pet, are they not immune to recharge changes?

Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.
