The attacks being linked to the pet powers thematically is not why people don't take them, it's because most of them are basically worthless unless you're taking them for concept reasons, and there's better powers to spend the slots on (the Leadership pool, for instance).

I don't mind this change, and could be quite a bit more fun on MMs, since you wouldn't be looked into the Archer Ninja, or the Rifle toting Robotics MM.
Sadly, I bet it would be considered to much work.

If they wanted to could give alternate effects and animations for some of the powers, like example (Hell on Earth 18 Ranged, Pet +Dmg, +To Hit, Summon Living Hellfire. Could have a electric effect charging the pet up the mechanics would be the same every thing else would be cosmetic ); or (Smoke Flash 18 Hide Ninja. Could be a flash of lightning. There are other power sets that use this, illusion control for one, the effect from there could be subbed no smoke but a brilliant flash different look same effect). But sadly i do not think they would do this mainly do to time but i can dream

Before you all say it i know many have posted similar threads about this but i have been thinking of a way that would be easy so everyone gets what they want the way they want it and would be easy to do on the part of the designers.
The way it is now the main power set and the pets are all in one so its a packaged deal. now the easy way to fix would split up this so you chose the pet types and the secondary attacks for your self. The villain side has the easiest fix in the Arachnos Widow and Arachnos Soldier sets in there primary's there is a split. Now this would require more than just splitting due to you could respect and pick different powers. To stop the exploit of this if you were to respect you would go only to the top choices you made (example on the list it would have pets thugs, zombies, ect and on the sub set would have primary attack set electric, dark, ect. well it would go to only the start of those you had chosen like zombie and dark allowing to chose which you want first) here is some sample list i made

I left the hell on earth because the animation may use a whip but it empowers the demons and is a pet specific power not a personal attack power.

Now i hope i gave a good idea what i am trying to get across as for the pets i think different models would be the easy way to go with it (example there are those who do not like the magic aspect of the oni so could have a Rōnin show up instead would be easy all the Samurai like parts are there.
