/Poison
Currently running a Dark/Poison for a debuff theme; great for single target/decent for AoE debuffing and Dark/ is fairly quick and consistent in layering its debuffs, IMO
[I'm curious to see how much Creepers would like the total -Resis debuff]

Fire/Poison would be great, and mechanically has the best synergy. Fire plays best in melee, and after level 38 so does Poison. Poison Trap will be a sizable boost in hard control, and Venomous Gas will nicely boost the damage of Hot Feet. The layered -damage/-resistance combination will also increase the durability of your imps against hard targets, and increase their striking damage in turn.
From what I have experienced of it, Poison is basically like the most 'meh' powers from Empathy (single target heal, rezz, and anti-mezz) combined with a nerfed version of Radiation. However, I have never gotten above around level 20 with it. In theory it has decent debuffs, but it is severely lacking in the one it actually needs to be a decent single target debuff set (-Regen).
Fire Control is probably the most obvious set to combine with it due to overlaping damage-y toggles. But Fire is already a bit of a dangerous set: Radiation and Kinetics can heal themselves if things get scary. Other sets have other mitigation mechanics. Poison has -ToHit and -Damage with the small radius of Coking Cloud (which would be the power skipped by almost everyone except Ice, Fire, and Electric Controllers) due mainly to its small size. I guess you could do Plant because it would be safer to stand close to enemies in general, but you're still looking at a probably frustrating experience.
I did just fuss at someone in another thread for making comments about sets he had never actually played, so maybe I'm wrong about Poison. But from what I've experienced of it, I'm extremely unimpressed.

That said, Poison Trap is absolutely insane. It is basically a mag 3 PBAoE hold on a 1 minute recharge, that can run 4 procedures over 30 seconds per trap. I don't like to point that out all that often, but think for a second about what one can do with that... Every single skill in Poison is underwhelming except for this one skill.
IMO, Poison is a no go either way, due to debuff short aoe range, and animation time, also for a troller the -tohit you could do to mobs which is great for a troller seeing on how its easier to raise your def then your res without barrier , could be better filled. But if your stuck with poison I understand , once your minds set its set, never let anyone change it +1. So id go Dark, for the nice new animations and the great -tohit it gives to make a great sustainability health bar.

FWIW the change I pushed during the most recent Poison beta was simply upping the duration of Venemous Gas' debuffs from .75 seconds to 30 seconds. That would create a set we have never actually seen before: one that encourages you to run around "tagging" enemies rather than stand on top of them in order to debuff them. (Storm's Hurricane power has a 10 second duration on its -ToHit, so it sort of does this, but not quite in the same way).

I am going to give /Poison a shot on controllers now that I have played a Fire/Poison Corruptor up to lvl 39. And I think /Poison "might" be better on a troller. Imho, definitely not that great on a Corruptor. I'm basically trying to give /Poison another chance, however, I'm not fond of grinding a troller just so I can get damage from pets...
So, I've read some Posts and I keep debating "overall" synergy with damage. This is for general PVE, Team or solo.
1. Fire/Poison
2. Plant/Poison
3. Dark/Poison
I see various pros and cons with the above, but I just can't decide. I think damage wise they would perform in the order listed beyond lvl 35. But Dark, on paper, seems to have the most synergy with -ToHit.
Thoughts on a choice?
