TA/A Build

I have been wanting a defender for a long time (I play mainly Corruptors/Dominators).

I decided on a TA/Archery Defender because it has some control aspects to it...as well as not having to worry about redraw by pairing both sets. Attached is my build... I think I did pretty good but would love any advice people may have.

The reason I chose a Defender and not a Corruptor is....Entangling Arrow... I have no use for it truly and if I go Corruptor I am forced to take it...which leaves me 1 less power available (Grant invis which is handy and a convenient LOTG +Rech placeholder).

I went for Recharge; since a lot of the "good" powers are on such long recharges as well as Ranged Defense...since I will be an at range toon.

Actually changed EMP Arrows enhancements... went with lockdown - this gives my hold twice the duration and gives me a better chance to hold down bosses etc with the mag 2 proc + Ice Arrow.

4 days ...69 views and not one reply.. ouch. guess that either means the build I put up is good...or just no one interested in commenting hehe.

I actually changed the build slightly...got a lil better defense and s/l/e resist.

Having fun playing it...up to lvl 24 atm...and loving my healing arrow...does good damage and surprises my teammates hehe.

I don't use mids. Is there anything about your build that you think is particularly clever, different, or outstanding?

Here is my try... and yes I know there's a damage proc in Flash. But the set adds to the ranged defense, so just don't shoot Flash till the dive into the mob has already started. As for Acrobatics, no one uses that anymore. Burnout gives you back-to-back Rain of Arrows and Oil Slick Arrow. Also, you may want to move the Positron's Blast proc back to Rain because of the faster recharge time that it has. In other words, two chances instead of just one.

Here is my final mids build - consulted with a friend who does quite nice builds and this is what we came up with together.

You will notice that explosive blast is left empty albeit the positron +dam proc... this will make way for the new IO set being introduced with the summer event....which will give me another AOE but without the KB..instead KD which will do nicely with oil slick and RoA.

This focuses on my ranged defense since that is where I will gladly be staying most of time except to refill the occasional end after EMP arrow with power sink.
Gives me stealth built into CJ..at an early level so I can pair CJ + SS to effectively stealth if need be.
Allows me to hover and do my thang
And gives me my healing arrow hehehe

I decided to take fly and afterburner for my last two powers basically because I did not NEED any more powers and afterburner lets me slot another lotg +rech.

Currently at level 28 and loving this toon

I reworked your friends build. I basically just moved the same IOs around to shave off a few seconds obtain Range defense cap along with a Psionic defense increase. Not many ways to get that so 5% extra isn't bad. My only issue is your build is 6 seconds quicker then mine for Oil Slick but your spending Billions more then me to obtain it.

If you slot in musculature and notice the time difference compared to recharge difference and then just add up the numbers over time you will see that the DPS increase of Musculature cannot be beat by the 6 second recharge of Agility.

EDIT: I would also just slot in Power build up from power mastery and then activate it while looking at the Oil Slick Damage. I think you will be impressed.

2nd EDIT: Sprint is turned on one of these builds so Endurance numbers are off. I think it is the sniper build. It was driving me nuts looking at the number.

I've been toying with dusting off my old TA/A and respeccing him something like this. It's not softcapped (mostly because I prefer Leadership to Fighting) but it's got a respectable 35% defense. I'm planning to add the Vigilant Assault set when it comes out split 3 and 3 between Snap Shot and OSA. The Overwhelming Force enhancements (and the Positron's Blast in OSA) are there as placeholders to give me the correct enhancement values (the blank slot in Snap Shot is for the Vigilant Assault proc).

I tend to play aggressively with my all my toons so I try to ensure they good melee defense as well as ranged defense. I don't really find much benefit from resistance for squishies though it does help at times to have some. Anyways was playing around with a TA/Archery build and here it is. This is an expensive build that assumes you have the influence to spend.
