Interview w. John Wagner about return of the Dark Judges
Wow. I read the original story with the Dark Judges. Should be very interesting with Dredd so advanced in years....

Yeah. As I recall the medical tech in Dredd's world can slow aging and I think somewhat reverse it, but Dredd is now late 60's if not 70 years old. He's still tough and I wouldn't want him after me, but the creator, writers and editors must have something planned in the future to deal with Dredd's age and the fact that he is mortal.

1. He's too popular and too much of a cash cow to kill off for good.
2. They have ample supply of the DNA from Fargo that helped make Dredd as shown by the "clone brothers" Dredd has. There was the original Rico that Dredd had to stop, then a new brother adopted the name Rico to redeem it. There was a clone brother that showed an extreme independence of thought and didn't want to be something churned out on an assembly line and opted to NOT be a Judge. Before he left the Judges, his face and skin were completely reworked so that he looked nothing like Dredd.
So could they:
1. make a new clone that takes the name Dredd to carry on the name?
2. make a new clone and program it's brain with all of Dredd's memories and experience thus it would be a literal copy of Dredd?
3. clone a young body and transplant Dredd's brain into it?
4. fountain of youth or something that restores Dredd's youth?
5. be brave (stupid) and end the Dredd franchise?
Oy! Late 60s isn't that old. I'm sure Dredd will be perfectly fit well into his 70s at least.
I really should do something about this signature.

I'm saying Dredd should be killed off now or that he is too old to continue as a street judge like he wants to. He's already quite being a judge I think twice and taken the long walk once already.

I'm simply stating that Dredd does age, that he is getting up there, and that eventually the creator/writers/editor are going to have to do something.
Granted I like it when characters age as it sure does beat the "sliding timeline" or "universal reboots" like some other companies are well known for. But it does have the problem that eventually the character get's too old to continue effectively doing what they do.
Look what they did to end Max Punisher? He aged in real time, was in his mid 60's and met his fate at the end of the series.
