Location-specific Ouroboros portals

Mentioned this in Help channel as one of those crazy ideas that just might work, thought I'd actually get on here and post it. There's been a lot of limitations set in Ouroboros when it comes to alignment, mostly how Vigilantes are still heroes, rogues are still villains and there's no Praetorian arcs to go back to either. And when using the O-portal as a shortcut for tourist mortality characters? Forget about it!

The problem here is that the O-Portal is coded to look at alignment and send you to either the Hero Ouro or Villain Ouro based on it. Meaning tourist alignments are put into binary good/evil groupings.

My suggestion is simple: Redo the O-Portals so instead of it being Hero Ouroboros and Villain Ouroboros, it's Paragon Ouroboros and Rogue Isles Ouroboros. And if resources are put to it, you could even make a Praetoria Ouroboros to cover the time-lost Praetoria arcs. By making it location-specific instead of alignment specific, even as non-pure alignments you can still take advantage of all the arcs and use them as shortcuts even while playing tourist. Heck, this means Rogues can team with heroes to do Ouro arcs and Vigs for Villain Ouro teams.

I suppose if you had to account for instances/SG bases it would default to work like how it does now, treat you as a pure alignment. But other city zones you'd most likely use the O-Portal anyway? Problem solved.

Oh, and add the Safeguard/Mayhem missions to Ouroboros too, just make a dedicated NPC a la Null the Gull if you have to! It's not impossible to be SSKed down to the last level of a bracket and re-enable use of the scanpapers to earn a go at Bank missions for the appropriate zone

With the fact we've got phasing technology ingame now anyway aren't the two Ouro zones outdated anyway?

Can't we just have one with two phase-based return portals (sitting on top of one another) in it?

Except some people, like myself, like to use Ouroboros as an "Exit Stage Left" to return to their side from the alternate side. Say, for example, you're a rogue that just finished the posi TF, and now you want to jump back over to Grandville. Instead of hopping in your ouro portal, you're stuck having to find an alternate way.

Perhaps a better solution would be to keep personal portals alignment tuned, and have "always open" Ouro portals in certain zones that were location tuned.

In that case why not just make the O-Portals time-travelling PTA transits where you choose which location to go once you click it? Paragon Ouro, Rogue Isle Ouro, Praetoria Ouro, and all the Ouroboros exit zones. The latter which would cut a loading screen out for the thing most people use it for anyway, shortcuts :P

It would be mechanically easier to keep the alignment-tuned Ouroboros zones and give Rogues and Vigilantes the choice, when they entered an Ouroboros portal, to go to the hero Ouroboros or the villain Ouroboros. Once you're in one of the zones, you'd be stuck with zoning out through its portal to the zones it reaches, so you couldn't get blueside from the redside Ouroboros.

The problem is that the coding behind Ouroboros is 'a dirty hack'. Which I think explicitly refers to how the mission lists in the flashback crystals work. And the main reason -why- the two Ouroboros cannot be joined. And why Rogues/Vigilantes can't 'cross over' to the others, they still can't do otherside content until they change alignment all the way.
