Any hints for geforce GTX 295?

My computer shuts down in new dark astoria and maybe in other new areas. I think that overheating is not the problem because all other games works great and last time it happened only in 68 celsius and sometimes in 70 or slightly over. I'm cleaning my system regularly. Everything worked fine until I had to update my driver because of some other updates happened and the old driver stopped to work.

Driver version 196.21 worked fine until it stopped to work and now I have the latest 296.10

Practically I cannot team any more.

What do you mean the older drivers stopped working?
Are you saying that you got the "Your drivers are out of date" message?
Or that they simply didn't work at all and you couldn't get into the game?

Very serious graphical glitches started suddenly in one day. Maybe it was windows update or some other thing. I cannot tell sure but several programs patched at same day. Driver update fixed that problem but started this new one.

For example Skyrim works great and all other games also but I think they are Direct X games and Coh is OpenGL game if I remember correctly.

edit. do you think it's Steam? I installed Steam in same day but it sounds odd.

Run these two programs and post the results here in separate messages. It will give us a better idea what might be wrong.

with 4 gig of ram and coh you want to close or not load at start up a lot of crap like itunes and adobe reader. us msconfig in the run window and turn off stuff from auto loading that you dont need. also on coh launcher tell it to close down after it launches the game..most people have it running on the task bar it not needed once it check that your game is up to date. the last tip is the game itself it happens to me with my gtx250 the game when installed or patched loves to turn ultra mode on. i have a 24 inch monitor and with the stock video card and monitor running at 1900x1600 if i turn the setting up to high i can lock coh up. i mostly run the game at it lowest setting so that i can at lest in tf and group play dont lock up...i still lag a lot.
if you want to see all the eye candy your going to have to replace the old card.

When was the last time you ran a full antivirus scan?

If it wasn't recently then do it now.

Also download and run Malwarebytes

If the antivirus scans show your system as clean then we can look into other steps.

Antivirus did not found anything and I run it many times but I noticed some suspicious behaviour. Well I have one very good treatment called "format C" and Windows installing disc.

I'm glad to see that you are willing to reformat and reinstall. So many people insist on trying to save their drive as is and sometimes that can be almost impossible.

My suggestion is to just install the things you absolutely need. No toolbars, no download assistants, no programs that you think you might want to try but aren't sure.

That's the way I do things now. Once upon a time I used to install everything that came along but I have learned that not only does that lead to viruses but it also leads to system instability from having so many background processes.

Exactly and it helped. I played hours last night without any problems. Formatting and reinstalling helps you to get rid of piles of crap. Well it's not actually very hard thing to do. I'm installed over 100 computers. Save important files, put disc in, click, click, click, watch TV... download cox, watch more TV, ready to play.

I remember times when it took over the night to download cox. Now it happens in one hour
