New Stalker

I would like to make a new stalker now that I22 has hit and need some advice on power choices. I only want to solo with this character (about time I read up on the new and old story arcs). I basically need advice on which powersets will let my stalker solo well from the beginning to end. For primaries I'm looking at Ninja Blade, Street Justice, Kinetic Melee, and because I love the animations Energy Melee. I'm not really too picky when it comes to the secondaries except that I despise the look of ice armor and energy aura, they keep me from ogling at my costumes

I'm thinking these questions are rather basic but every time I try to make a stalker I stop because I'm unsure of what to pick. Advice shall be rewarded with a single sacrifice of goat blood.

Street Justice and Kinetic Melee are probably you're best bets.

Kinetic Melee since it does energy damage doesn't get resisted as often as a lot of other sets. It also has Burst which will Crit 100% of the time from Hidden/Placate. Additionally Concentrated Strikes crit will recharge Build Up this gives Kin some interesting advantages with Hide/Placate/ATO.

Street Justice is also a good set to use because of the AoE damage, and the combo system gives an interesting gameplay experience with the Assassin's Strike changes. Since AS is 2 combo points and the unhidden animation is short it will be easy to earn combo points, which will go nicely with a Crushing Uppercut Crit from Placate/ATO.

As for Secondaries Willpower/Super Reflexes/Ninjutsu are all good picks without too many effects interfering with your costume.

Energy Aura does not obscure your costume on a stalker. We don't get Energy Cloak, we get hide.

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...

BEHOLD THE POWER OF CHEESE!

This is a good point.

And Hide will obscure your costume more thoroughly than anything except the original look of Cloak of Darkness

Can't say anything about stalker KM, but I've been soloing a StJ/Nin stalker now and he's my newest Coolest Toon Ever. Both StJ and KM seem to very much be "love it or hate it" propositions so you may want to reroll if you happen to pick the wrong one. Ninja blade seriously hates some factions.

You'll always fade in when you attack, so I guess the "No FX" options are your friend. I'm a huge SR fan and will always recommend it, but Ninjutsu is the stalker specific secondary and I feel it's a good idea to try it at least once.

tl;dr try Ninjutsu with either StJ or KM and switch if you hate the primary.

I went with Ninja Blade/Elec Armor for my new Stalker. I really liked the costume/theme of a sleek, high tech ninja warrior that favors speed and technology as his advantage over brute force or sneaky tactics (kinda like a Decker from Saints Row 3 if you ever played that). Instead of going for the big AS followed by placate/scrapping I'll be hitting the AS then using SD and GD to build up my Focus for as much controlled critting as I can do. The idea is to use my big hitters as much as possible and they are both down to a 2.54 and 3.23 recharge on my current build.

The thing I'm most looking forward to is a very smooth chain with Soaring Dragon, Golden Dragonfly, and AS. Throw in some Divine Avalanche and a heavily invested +def build with a smattering of +HP and I have a character that will hone in on the baddies and elegantly slaughter them in relative safety with all of the extra layered protection I'll have.

The problem I'm running into is that this build is super tight. This is my preliminary build if you're interested. There's an extra slot I don't know what to do with, and Weapon Mastery is taken purely for theme, though I may drop Exploding Shuriken. Dunno yet:
