Fire/Storm advice needed

Hello,

I recently had the urge to make a Rain of Fire Freezing Rain corruptor.

My questions are if the double rains are actually as good as they seem in my head or not. Fun factor is important here as well.

My other question is if there are places redside that are packed full of enemies like perez park on blueside?

All advice welcome!

Yes, Rain of fire+Sleet/Freezing Rain is extremely strong, easy to use, and fun to watch everything melt.

There aren't really hazard zones on villain side, so you're not going to find mob sizes like you would in hazard zones blue side.

Just keep in mind that a fire/storm corr will be very endurance heavy.

Thanks!

I might go blueside then. I was leaning toward a Corruptor for the scourge ability, but what would be the argument for a Defender?

In case you didn't know, you can roll a corruptor on blue side the same as a defender.

As far as defender vs. corruptor, the defender generally gets better buffs/debuffs and the corruptor has slightly higher damage and scourge. For fire/storm I would say corruptor because I hear Rain of Fire is so good with scourge.

Thanks again!

I think I will try a Blueside Corrupter, Fire/Storm and Power Mastery looks good. I figure Assault would be good, and Hasten.

My experience with enhancements is oldschool SO's, so I will have to learn about how that all works now.

One word of warning, both Tornado and Lightning Storm do a fair chunk of damage, but come with knockback. Because of this Mace Mastery might be of use so you can AOE immob things in place and then let Tornado & LS whittle them down along with your Fire powers.

I was thinking to use snowstorm to keep my victims from moving away too quickly. I imagine an area immobilize is better but will snowstorm do the job?

Snowstorm & FR are ideal for stopping things escaping the Rains. But they won't do anything to counter the knockback that Tornado & LS do unfortunately. It means that without an AOE immob which prevents knockback (which is only in the Mace Mastery set) Lightning Storm will knock things directly back out of your Patch Of Death and Tornado will scatter things to the 4 winds.

Actually, I don't believe this will work. Neither web envelope nor web cocoon suppress knock back, so although enemies will not be able to run, they can certainly be moved all over the place. I am not particularly familiar with corruptor ancillary pools, but I'm pretty sure that they only power there that suppresses KB is electric fence.

That is correct (at least per Paragon Wiki/City of Data). No KB resistance or protection in Web Cocoon so like with Tenebrous Tentacles they'll be knocked down or back but be will still be immobilized.

You'll need to become proficient using Hurricane and in placing LS (and using Nado) to pin them into corners and otherwise deal with the kb/kd. Hurricane can be a excellent tool for positioning. And immobilized targets (such as those in Webnade) are generally easier to shove around with Hurricane or otherwise deal with the kb since they aren't able to otherwise move.

Snow Storm will make it easier to out maneuver your foes to position them more favorably as well. You'll learn to love maps with corners and dead end rooms.
