Sorting out my WP/SS Tank
Well first off the fitness pool is inherent now. You want to try to soft cap s/l damage which is 45%. Looking at your build I noticed u are far from SC your def. You can do that by switching out your IOs in your attacks with Kinetic Combats 4 of them will up your s/l damage I would work on your build but I do not know what u want to put in there in place of your fitness pool.

As an aside, how does Mids factor these inherent powers into a build? I didn't see them show up in the list of automatic powers at the bottom of the screen.

Edit: Since it's late, rather than fiddling with your build, I adjusted mine to have Flight and Lasers. It isn't quite softcapped without the Alpha Incarnate slot, but I don't mind.

Maneuvers is not a good choice for a wp tank since u can get to SC with out it or pretty close. I adjusted my build to take out the Fire Mastery and added in the Energy mastery.

Well, I redesigned the character taking into account the changes to the fitness pool and made adjustments to some of the powers and IOs.
All defenses except Psionics are basically at the SC.
The build uses Manuvers to get to (actually over for some of them) the SC for them but with the amount of End recovery that the character will generate that shouldn't be a problem.
And frankly since they are so close to the cap even without Manuevers on I will probably just run with it off most of the time reserving it's use for the more challenging encounters.
Global recharge at 45% is decent and I got to add Afterburner in as a quality of life upgrade.
The downsides I see are that I lost about 3% to my S/L resistance (more than made up for though in the much higher defenses) and I can't get Rage to stack (it's barely perma at this point).

If you just want to start fresh and not reuse/destroy/de-slot anything, you can swap over to your second build. Then just level up according to your plan in Mids.
The populate with the IOs you want.
Here's my honest (if not humble) assessment of your second build.
Yank the extra slots out of boxing. Throw at least ONE into KO Blow. Throw something like the Mako Quad or a Crushing Impact Acc/Dam/Recharge in there.
Honestly NOT seeing the utility of Afterburner for you.
Yeah, it kicks your defense WAAAAAY up. But you can't attack anything and you're WP, so you can't hold anything for long with just your aggro aura. If you're looking to do something like straight-tank Lord Recluse, this isn't the way to do it.
The set bonus in BotZ? Not worth slotting for. Salvage the second slot for something else. You're already at fly cap, stick a Slow Resist (Winter's Gift) IO in there.
You don't have enough accuracy. Even with Rage up, you're STILL going to have problems hitting things when most of your attacks are at +22% Acc.
I'd recommend putting at least one Performance Shifter proc into either Stamina, Quick Recovery or Physical Perfection.
YES, you have recovery out the *PANCAKE*.
YES, your recovery can STILL be floored.
Don't have a build to toss back at you.
Oh, one more thing. Try to include the data chunk.
The data link from Mids doesn't survive a preview/edit.
This way if you go back and add something you forgot, the build doesn't become useless to people trying to dissect it.
Speaking from experience u might want to lose one of the numas in RttC since that is your Taunt aura and add in a Taunt IO to help with it since the RttC is one of if not the weakest Taunt auras in the game for tanks. Also I would of added in same extra acc in your attacks I usually go for Mako quad.

The problem with that plan is that most of the IOs that are in my build are already slotted on the character (all of the uniques, 4 Kinetic sets, etc) and to rebuild from scratch would be another billion+ inf that I don't have handy.

Adding the Mako quad to what is already there adds 2.8% damage and shaves about 1 second from the CD. Helpful but not a game changer. Moving an extra slot to say.. Combat jumping adds 9% more to global accuracy which is probably a better call. |
Two fold. First it lets me fly faster from place to place which while admittedly trivial is something I enjoy. Secondly, it acts as an "OH SH#$" button for when I stupidly let my Defense get DeBuffed to give me (hopefully) the 5-10 seconds needed for the healer to "fix" me and for my normal defenses to recover. I could go with SoW instead as my emergency button but this build is as much for my personal enjoyment as it is to functionality. |
So you're investing in a power that sees limited utility. Like Unstoppable on a soft-capped Invuln.
As to the travel speed. Eh. To each his own.
Slotted as it is, Rage is adding 25% toHit and I ~do~ already have one 9% global accuracy bonus tomyattacks however that being said I may do what I mentioned earlier and pull a slot from somewhere to add another LotG to Combat Jumping to add 9% more. |
If you're planning on doing no exemping, I guess you're fine. If you plan to exemp at all it's going to get painful below level 47. |
I think that I am happy with this. Hits the S/L cap and comes very close with fire/cold/energy/neg without Maneuvers on, blows past the cap for all of them when it is turned on (and still generates over 3 End per second with it running).
The only hole is Psi which just hits 33% def.
I'll need to make about 200-300 million Inf to be able to get the build completed but that isn't too hard.
Aside from the soft spot vs. Psi is there anything else I should look at?

Only going to comment on a couple things...
Afterburner is a good place for Winter's Gift 20% slow resistance...since you already have the 5 lotg's.
(A better idea, in my opinion, would be to drop Maneuvers and pick up SoW...then slot the 5th lotg in afterburner)
Even if you say you will never exemplar...you might end up doing it in the future. Take Footstomp when it is available at level 38.
Here's an idea of what you could go with by adding in SoW. (also moved a couple other slots around and changed a few enhancements)

Only flaw I see is that it weakens the Psi defense a little more but 29% vs 33% isn't a huge drop.
I may actually go with this one.
That may be so but most of the enemy's u will encounter wont have psi damage. But even so it shouldnt be much of a problem, I have yet had any problems when facing enemys with psi damage on my WP tank with 28.5% defense vs psi. And vitality u know your over the rule of 5 with in foot stomp with those scirocco's devish in it?

In that case...I would swap out the Efficacy Adaptor's in QR with 4 Performance Shifters.

Ok first off your recharge on your attacks and everything else is going to be very slow. Even though u want after burn because it will increase your flight speed it wont show it when u do hit it, I have heard that from a lot of other players who did take it. U SCed your F/I why? There is not that many enemies that u will encounter in game with those attacks. U have 2 generic def IOs in your Heighten Senses that is putting u over the required def cap on it and is just wasted slots there. The Gaussians in rage are more for positional def then it is for typed like WP tanks are be better off with 2 Rectified Reticle in them and a generic recharge in it. That can save up some spots to put in other powes like your attacks to add in some Acc to it, and to tough to put in another set of RA there which will help u out a bit.

And how would swapping out the Gausians and their Damage, HP and Recovery buffs and losing 3% to my near capped F/C Def for Reticles and RA's be an improvement when I am already at the Def Caps for S/L, & E/N?
Basically it would nearly double my chances to be hit by F/C attacks, I lose 2.5% damage, 2.5% Recovery, 35 HPs, 10% run speed and a 5% boost to all other travel types all just to gain another 7% accuracy?
Seems like a terrible trade-off to me. If I run into something that I cannot hit as it is then I don't see another 7% accuracy making that big of an overall difference.
All that said and done, I will move the two extra slots out of HS over to KOB which adds 3% global damage and shaves about a second and a half off the recharge on KOB and consider swapping After Burner for something slightly more practical like Stealth.

Just want to point out that Stealth is not practical on a Tanker or any character that wants to tank.
You want the enemies to see you.
If you're dropping Afterburner...I would take Maneuvers in it's place.
Stealth isn't there for Defense, the build is basically already capped.
The only reason I would use it is for soloing missions that require you to "find the glowie" as it's usually easier to just turn off the taunt aura, turn on stealth and zip through to the object.
That being said it really is only slightly more practical than Afterburner as I would rarely ever use it.
Just wanted to throw my wp/ss tank build in here. Completely different from what you have, though. I also haven't looked at it since I stopped playing the game in Jan. (just came back!)
