Free-2-Play Questions

So I've been gone for about 2.5 years now and decided to log back in after hearing about the Free-2-Play option in the game but need some help with a few things.

(FYI, I have no problem with spending a bit of cash for some points in the store but I just need to know a bit more about the way things work before doing so .)

IOs:

~All of my IOs are grayed out. I assume because their use is a VIP feature now and while I understand that I need to know if the Devs provided any way for me to remove/swap those (very expensive) IO enhancements out without destroying them in the process for SOs or do I need to purchase multiple respecs in order to salvage all of them?

~Is there any way for me to reactivate the IOs on my characters without stepping up to VIP status?

~If I purchase IO sets with points from the store will those slot/activate on my Presige acct characters or do those also only work for VIP players?

Supergroup Base

~I am still listed as the leader of my (inactive) supergroup but because I am only at Prestige status I am unable to pay the maintainence fee required to re-open the base. Since the SG was created by me solely for my (large number) of characters to store enhancements, salvage, etc. I need to know if there is some alternative to paying for VIP status in order to re-activate the base and continue using it.

Character Slots

~On the two accounts that I have, one has seven server slots available while the other has only three server slots available. I am guessing that this is due to the difference in total number of months that were paid for originally on each account?

~If I buy points and increase the number of accessible character slots I assume that those additional slots become permanently accessible to my Prestige account but do they also increase the total number of slots available if I up my acct. to VIP status for a month or two?

Influence

~I heard that Prestige characters have a lower Influence cap than VIP characters. What is that cap?

~If one of my (currently inavtive) characters has/had more influence on him than the prestige character cap allows, what happens to the "overflow" influence?

Incarnate abilities/content

~It is my understanding that all incarnate content and abilities are limited to VIP characters only. Is that correct?

Thank you guys for any information that you can offer to help clear this stuff up for me.

-You can respec out. Yes, you'll need multiple respecs.
-You can switch to a second build by talking to any trainer. If it's your first time, you'll have to reselect all your powers as you "level up" again (You don't need to re-earn the XP, just re-train each level).

Yes. You can purchase IO licenses to 160 points each. That's $2, and they last 30 days each. And once you've got enough Paragon Rewards to complete Tier 7 on the Reward Tree, you'll unlock a permanent IO license, and never need to buy one again.

The sets that you can buy from the store are not IOs - they are Store Bought Enhancements. SBEs work for any player at all times; they do not need a license. You can freely mix and match SBEs and IOs if for some reasoon you want to.

Only a VIP player can pay rent. You could invite a VIP friend and have them pay rent for you. You'll either have to have a friend pay rent each time it comes due, or remove all items in the base that add a rent cost (which includes all storage items).

All accounts have two slots. Any additional slots that you've earned or purchased are added to this total. So any from annual vet rewards, buying Going Rogue (prior to the transition to Freedom), being active when purchasable slots were added (for the two free slots given to all active accounts at that time), or buying slots will all be added to the base two.

Yes. Once you go back to VIP, you will go back to having 12 slots per server, plus any additional slots you had purchased.

Influence

~I heard that Prestige characters have a lower Influence cap than VIP characters. What is that cap?
25 million at Tier 1
500 million at Tier 2
1 billion at Tier 3
2 billion at Tier 4
These are all per-character limits.

~If one of my (currently inavtive) characters has/had more influence on him than the prestige character cap allows, what happens to the "overflow" influence?
Nothing. However you won't be able to earn any more. If you try to claim Inf from the Market, it won't be allowed, and trades that give you Inf will be blocked as well. If you earn Inf from defeating enemies, completing missions, or collecting badges, it will count towards badges, but it will not be given to you, nor will it be banked for later - anything earned while over the cap is lost, just as if you were at the 2 billion cap as a VIP.

Incarnate abilities/content

~It is my understanding that all incarnate content and abilities are limited to VIP characters only. Is that correct?
Correct. You cannot earn any Incarnate progress as a Premium player. You also cannot do the mission arc from Mender Ramiel, or any Task Forces or Trials that are flagged as "Incarnate Content", nor can you do missions in the new Dark Astoria. If you kill enemies in Dark Astoria, you will not get any Incarnate drops.
All your Incarnate abilities you currently have will be greyed out and unuseable, just like your IOs are. Unlike the IOs, there is NO WAY to reactivate them, short of resubscribing. None of your Incarnate Abilities will be deleted; they will stay there waiting for you to resubscribe.

I'd like to highlight this as it offers the best of both worlds. If you don't purchase an Invention License, you can switch each character to the 2nd build and set them up with SO's. If you get access to IO's at some point in the future, just switch back to the original build and you're ready to go.

You can switch builds as often as you like, by talking to any trainer, limited only by a 15 minute cooldown on switching. The cooldown is to avoid abuse since switching builds recharges all powers - including those with super long recharge times like the mission teleporter.

Thanks for the replies. They answered all of my questions/concerns.

Fortunately, my main account (which has most of my characters) has had enough paid time on it over the years to fill up the tier 6 bracket which means that my characters shouldn't have an issue witht he influence cap and puts me reasonably close to being able to have permanent IO access at some point in the future.

I haven't yet gotten into the Incarnate system (it was introduced after I left the last time) so it's a case of "not really missing something that I never had" but the loss of the IOs was devastating. A couple of characters have literally billions of influence worth slotted into their builds so a couple of dollars a months to reactivate them isn't really too great a price to pay.

I will have to come up with some way re-open my base though as I have dozens of high value IOs locked up in storage inside.

Invite a VIP to your SG and have them pay rent. Lots of folks will do this for you for nothing.

Invite a VIP. Leave them at the lowest rank and set all your storage so the lowest rank can't access it. Or, if you're paranoid, ask them to go to the SG registrar, invite them, they pay the rent, then kick them. You only need to pay the rent once per six weeks - after they cut the power.

If you think it will hard to find someone who will put up with that nonsense, I volunteer. I have unaffiliated toons on every server and I go around helping other SG's get the healing badges.
