Hey, I've recently began playing COH for the second times, (I once played it when it first came out around 7 or 8 years ago). And i cant help but notice that barely any sound effects play. Aside from ambience, some bgms, and some attacks. There are absolutely NO sound effects whatsoever and it takes away from the game :/. Can anyone help me out with my issue?

On the last page of the options window, near the bottom, are the sound options. Are those all up?

If that doesn't fix it, go into your install folder, select the piggs folder, and delete anything that says sound (there's 15 files). Load up the launcher and select a "repair" by right clicking City of Heroes in the lefthand list.

I already checked the sound options, but that second option sounds like a plan! Thanks, I'll try it!

EDIT:
I tried it, still no luck however :/

um, check your volume setting? How is the sound getting from the game to your ears? USB-based sound systems can be set to treat the output from different applications differently. Maybe something is set wrong.

Every single attack has a sound effect and so does just about every other power in the game (aside from auto-powers - ones that are always on and can't be turned off).
On top of that, there are location-based sound effects - traffic, foghorns, etc. If you stand outside various restaurants and other locations, you can hear sounds from inside.

I'm guessing here. Another possibility is that your sound configuration on your machine is setup differently than your speaker setup.

For example, your sound is setup for 5.1 surround sound, but you only really have two speakers.

So, in Windows, go into the Control Panel and double-click Sound and check how your speakers are setup.

If I right-click the speaker icon in my System Tray and choose "Open Volume Mixer", I get a master volume control, and a separate one for each program I have running. When you checked your volume settings, did you make sure that the volume isn't really low for CoH, but normal for everything else?

As an aside, because of the underline on links, I totally misread the topic title. Had the problem been what I read, I don't think anyone here could help you...
