Causing whole computer to freeze now

Since the most recent update, the game will go into a strange "forever loading" thing where I can't do anything. It displays only a black screen. If it is in fullscreen mode, the computer is essentially frozen, and CoH cannot be force-quit. If it is not in fullscreen mode, then I can force quit CoH but I cannot quit it regularly.

I've tried a few things, such as turning down graphics and making sure no other programs are open, but that doesn't seem to help. On the activity monitor, CoH quits taking up any of the threads and just sits there dead.

Anyone know what is going on? I'm using 10.6.7 on a 13" Macbook with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Videocard.

Since it has to do with the Mac client, you're probably best off just hitting Customer Service.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I'd say that this is the problem. CoH support for Snow Leopard has ended and all Mac Client support is being geared towards 10.7.x now. Sounds like it's time to plunk down $30 in the App Store and get yourself upgraded to Lion.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Select the "Go" menu in the Finder and then "Go to Folder...". Type "~/Library/Preferences" and then click Go.

After that, find the "City of Heroes Preferences" folder and drag it to the trash. Then run CoH again. You will have to enter your settings again for the game, but it should work.

Customer Support should have a similar procedure if you contact them, only after some troubleshooting with Safe Mode.

Wait, what? Has this been stated clearly somewhere? As far as I know, 10.6 is still supported. It was 10.5 support that was ended recently (see sticky at top of this forum, dated Sept. 2011).

Am I wrong on this?

(I'm running 10.6.8 and not having any problems; actually, with recent memory leaks being plugged, it's more stable than ever.)

Edit: found an official link on the support set. Minimum requirements as of Jan. 30, 2012 is 10.6: https://support.cityofheroes.com/app...etail/a_id/462

Edit 2: and they really don't make it easy to find that information. The main site, as far as I can tell, has zero information on system requirements.
