Devouring Earth Lieutenants Pets

I've noticed recently that the DE Lieutenants don't seem to be bringing out their pets other then the Granite (Cairn).

Played through two missions with DE (level 30 and 31). Both Herders and Fungoids were spawning their pets normally.

But on that subject ... does anyone remember way back when Herders and Fungoids actually summoned swarms, and the Devoured actually summoned swarms in sets of two? It's been a *long* time since I've seen them do that.

I'd rather them spawn anything but those Cairns! oh they can take a triple digit attack and turn it into a single digit one sometimes >.<

Wow, you're right, now that you mention it, I've not seen swarms in a DE mish in ages! I have no clue why now, as you said, swarms used to, well, swarm ya, during DE mishs..

They used to really make fights interesting because of their auto-hit slow effects. Way back before the global defense nerf, when you still had the ability to taunt unlimited amounts of stuff, my wife (who played a blaster) directed me to "gather" a very large room's worth of them. Like any good husband, I did as she asked, neither of us thinking about the effect those summoned swarms would have.

By the time I was done, I had so many swarms on my tank that my recharge was utterly floored, and taunt was taking something like a minute to come back (not to mention my other attacks too) -- made for a very interesting fight because I was having a lot of trouble holding aggro since I could barely *do* anything.

It was more the odd 30 minute hunt for that one swarm hiding in the rafters and preventing the defeat all mish from completing that I remember.

After further study I think this is just in mission DE. I posted this because I had run several tip missions and the "Prevent Shadowhunter's Resserection" mission from Maira Jenkins all on x8 and only saw the cairns. I have seen devouring earth lieutenants outside these missions drop the other pets since I posted this but those inside don't (at least the level 45-50 tips Coulomb2 reports that the lower level tip DE do drop others).

Someone mentioned that the devouring earth in the tip mission were the praetorian DE with elevated to hit, I confirmed the elevated to hit using the combat analyzer III temp power.
