A Humble Request Re: Forming Incarnate Trials
I REALLY like this suggestion, though I concur you're not likely to see anything come of it. But just so you know, at least one other Virtue player agrees.
I also think it's sort of a pain. When I'm standing around waiting for a trial to start, I'm usually sitting in that hangar area, too.
But when I22 comes around, Dark Astoria will become a co-op zone specifically for Incarnates. I think that might make an even better meeting point, depending on how the zone's configured.

Even when Masterminds crowd around I have never had problems getting to the trainer or Lady Gray. I just run right past everyone. I've never even had to jump.
I'm not sure if this (now probably temporary) problem is actually a problem at all.

It's not really a problem, it just seems... rude. You don't just stand around in a traffic lane or in front of something people need to access and expect them to go around, even if going around is a fairly simple matter. It's like standing around in an aisle in the grocery store talking to a friend; even if there's plenty of room to get around you, it's still kind of selfish to expect everyone else to alter their path to wherever they're trying to get because you're in their way.
Like I said, it's not that big a deal, but there are places to form up for trials that are right nearby and just as convenient, that would also be more considerate to the people doing anything except trials. There's exactly one reason I can think of to form up in the hangar rather than in front of Lady Grey, but that's one more than I can think of to form up in front of Lady Grey instead of in the hangar.

Sadly, I don't see much coming of this either, there's often a call for trialers to shuffle RWZ instances on raid nights. Getting people to move is never as simple as it seems. I just simply deal with it and jump when I need to.
It also doesn't help that some teams recruit via local chat rather than broadcast (don't ask me why) and do so, right in front of those resources *shrug*
I'd at least be happy if people would take down their pets and stop spamming buffs in a safe zone. That's what you do when you enter the mission...
But then, that's been my gripe in -every- safe zone in CoH where I'm standing around a train(er) and a kin decides "Zomg you need SB & ID" or a bubbler decides "Zomg you need bubblesz!!!" or an emp decides "I Fort U! CM FTW!"
o-o
Pocket D is horrible for Incarnate trials, the only things it has going for is the fact that it is co-op, and a base beacon(and vip tp). RWZ has better points of access from the other zones, and you don't have to run around the world. It also happens to have everything under the sun except for the Market (go go /ah) all within 20ft of each other -- which is awesome.
I'd also like to see this form of "blocking" of the contacts. There is plenty of space up there and if comes to you not wanting to use the jump key or push some pets (yes the can be pushed) when a large group happens to be impeding you from clicking a contact/trainer/store, then I don't know what to tell you. Also if there is that many people where it's , "zomg get out of the way!!", there is probably another instance of the zone, which will -probably- have less people.
I myself stand in range of the store, so I vend everything I got and can zone into the next one, or I'll go play in the dummy area while waiting.
As far as the buffs... some people do it excessively, yeah, but if you didn't know you zone in with them as well, enabling stacking...
I do agree MM's should just release the pets though...

I can see the OP's point though...
And I do have icon stacking. Doesn't change the frustration factor, on top of the graphic load in an already laggy instance. If you're inside a safe zone, tell me why this is necessary?
IMO, it's the same principle as the MM pets.

Do I really expect anything to come of this? No. But I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.
On most servers, incarnate trials form up in Pocket D. Because it's easy to get to, there are no enemies to worry about, and most importantly, it's a co-op zone accessible by both heroes and villains.
On Virtue, Pocket D gets used for, um... other things. So we form up inside the Vanguard base in the Rikti War Zone, for the same reasons.
The thing is, we always form up right in front of the Lady Grey -- a task force contact. That means we're also right in front of a trainer (and therefore tailor) and a vendor. Basically, we're blocking, or at least hindering, access to a lot of resources when twenty or thirty of us all stand in that spot talking in Local and spamming Destiny powers and letting our demons and robots and fire imps run wild. It's inconsiderate to non-incarnates and the people who just want to buy a few enhancements or level up. Besides that, it's also a "choke point" that anyone traveling to either Paragon or the Isles has to pass through on their way from the War Zone, and vice versa, which means having to run right through all of that.
There's a room in the back, a sort of a lecture hall with stadium seating surrounding the sunken central area, through a tunnel sitting right between the portals to the Rogue Isles and Paragon, that would work just as well for forming up incarnate trials. And the only "resource" in that room is a single storyarc contact, so it sees a lot less traffic from people not looking for trials. Any chance I could talk people into forming up there instead? Sort of make that the incarnate trial "staging area" instead of Lady Grey's front porch?
(Alternately, there's the "hangar" area where the base portal is that would also get us out of the way and maybe be a little easier to find.)
