Mercs/Pain or Mercs/Storm?
Yikes.
Are you sure maybe not /dark neither of those really order a lot of mitigation and you'll need that mercs. I'd think about /thermal too. Mercs are actually pretty good, carefully pick over their details on city of data and build on their strengths.
Pains healing just won't keep up with their incoming damage... I like to hammer -tohit and -res as hard as I can with mercs, thermal offers resists which mercs have an OK amount and it has an OK heal.
Mercs/Storm!
Debuffing, extra damage, and tons of mitigation. How to play? Read Silas' guide to storm for Corruptors and do the opposite. Aside from an opening application of Sleet, enemies should be flat on their backs or flying through the air at all times. Use Hurricane all the time, it's tohit debuff is massive and keeps you nice and safe. Throw Gale on auto.
If you've ever teamed with a "bad" Stormie, they were likely just practising for this particular build. It's a liberating experience. If the last button you pushed didn't knockback at least 3 guys, you're doing it wrong.
Just tone it down (a bit) when you stoop to teaming with the inferior masses, and you'll avoid angry mobs.
Well,
I haven't seen a lot of /storm guys in the trials, but thats where I expect problems to show up. Your debuffs will work within the usual limits, but the control - like the bad guys slipping around I'm pretty sure will not work. That part is your damage migration, unfortunately.
I have a thugs/storm at fifty, but I haven't played him much lately since I'm just not sure what to do with him during the trials.
Cheers!
/Storm should actually be good for trials. Using Hurricane skillfully without throwing everything around will make the increased ToHit of Praetorian enemies irrelevant. Storm also gives some exotic resistance that pops up a lot in trials and gives Confuse resistance, which is invaluable in certain parts of the trials as well. I'm probably going with Storm for this character, though part of me really wants to make Pain work. Oh well, I'll just dismiss the Commando and resummon him when Serum runs out. Or feed him blues. Whichever.

Sounds good, but I'd check to make sure that hurricane and other knock abouts actually do work on the incarnate mobs reliably - it would be a shame to level a toon up to fifty only to be disappointed.
My poor /storm toon hasn't unlocked anything yet so I can't easily jump in and test it... Also you'd really want to ask someone who is level shifted up that might be important....
I'm curious myself, so if I notice a storm toon around rwz I'll ask and post.
Cheers!
I'm torn between the two. Pain seems to be the better pick at first because Painbringer could be used to fix Serum, and the set can heal the Mercs while using Anguishing Cry to debuff stubborn spawns. However, I've read a lot of good things about Merc/Storm as well. Which is actually the better pairing?
