Help me decide which TA to level.
I personally ran a TA/Archery defender to level 50....and thus far as been my ONLY defender to make the full trip. Was definitely a fun toon to play for me.
I made him as a perma-hover/fly toon, designed to lay waist at range. Rarely ever worried about flyers that could meet me up in the air to melee me, thanks to Entangling Arrow and it's -fly. With a bit of setup, and depending on the mobs, he could fairly easily handle full spawns all by his lonesome with little worry...and this was before IO's.
As far as lighting the OS arrow...that's right up Blazing Arrow's alley. I even made a keybind that would specifically target the OS so i wouldn't have to search for it.
And of course, let us not forget Rain of Arrows. Between this and OS, especially with disruption arrow going, things fall pretty damn fast. I'd expect that on a Corr, this might be a bit better with the corr's better damage and Scourge running. RoA could virtually wipe out most/all minions in an even conning spawn, seriously hurt LT's and bosses weren't in great shape either. After that...the lit oil slick ticks down the rest. If anything ever survived...it was but barely.
I've also done a Thugs/TA MM, though i haven't played him in a while. /TA plays well with the thug's tendancy for range, and the Arsonist does a pretty darn good job of lighting the slick for me.

Someone say something funny.
That'll do, pig. That'll do.
The TA/sonic seems to have better survival due to higher debuff numbers, and the -res of the sonic attacks are quite nice. Not to mention howl is a great way to ignite the slick.

Let me start by saying this-- it's awesome! You can light your oil slick while simultaneously augmenting its damage by using Howl. In fact, I have a bind that causes Howl to immediately target and attack the Oils Slick once it is cast. There is amazing synergy with the -Damage from Poison Gas Arrow, as every bit of -Resistance enhances the power of -Damage.
On the upside, this is one of the most potent debuffing characters available. You will be a massive force multiplier on teams, whether it involves hard targets like AVs or sweeping spawns of regular enemies. There is also a nice synergy with the redraw-- you debuff first then spam your attacks to further lower the resistance of the enemies.
On the downside, this isn't the best soloing character. Trick Arrow doesn't have enough personal mitigation in a solo setting to truly shine.
They all sound fine. Which do you like best?
My gut feeling is that the TA/sonic will be the most team-support-based because it will be debuffing resistance A LOT. /sonic doesn't really have a lot of OMG Wow AOE damage though (the nuke crashes, and 3 other AOEs yes but they are not really big damage ones--at least they are all cones though so easy to line up.) You won't be a soloing beast end game but should be okay. You will be good against hard single targets soloing though.
The fire/TA and A/TA will be debuffing resistance less and so arguably less useful on a team. They will have reliable AOE damage (fireball and rain of fire or rain of arrows) so will be better soloing. Note that I say this regardless of the fact that they happen to be the ones you chose as corruptors and not defenders. It is more because of the actual blast sets involved (a TA/A solos fine end game as well.)
Probably just go with what you like best and see how it is. Do you have a concept for one that you like a lot? Go with that one.
"Hi, my name is Ail. I make people sick."
A partial selection from my 50's on Freedom: Ail = Ice/Traps, Luck = Street Justice/Super Reflexes Stalker, Mist = Bane, Pixy = Trick Arrow/Archery, Pure = Gravity/Energy, Smoke = Fire/Fire Dominator
So I have been rolling a metric ton of new alts lately, and decided I want to finally level a trick arrow character to 50. I have made three characters that are contenders at this point: A fire/TA corruptor, a TA/sonic defender, and an Archery/TA corruptor.
I have leveled all three to the teens to get a feel for the sets. Fire/TA is obviously going the most damage and I can only imagine the carnage of rain of fire on top of oil slick.
The TA/sonic seems to have better survival due to higher debuff numbers, and the -res of the sonic attacks are quite nice. Not to mention howl is a great way to ignite the slick.
The archery toon has the cleanest feel and the freedom to mix attacks and trick arrorws without redraw, but seems the weakest set of the three and lacks the tools easily light the oil slick.
I'm just seeking input from players who have taken these sets which pairing they like most in the end game.
