My craptacular attempts at drawing
Im no art critic, but Id say thats pretty good...a far cry from craptacular.

Here is a completed drawing of Xenophage
My first actual drawing is of My Vigilante Energy/Fire Blaster Xenophage. I felt it was appropriate to draw him first as he was my first hero back in 2004
If this is crap, then by comparison anything I could make in ms paint is decent.
Which it's not >.>
Rockmar's stuff on the other hand, that's decent.
I'm saying that you clearly have no idea where the lines are drawn between "crap" "decent" and "good".
This is what one calls "good".
I see potential! This is looking really good for an first attempt!
You're doing a better job then my first attempt on a superhero! ->Have a look<-
Continue.. keep practising. You're good already , getting better is the only way!
Also.... you may want to check out the following...
Perhaps you would like someone, or several orther artists to maybe help you finish a drawing or parts of it, or have it coloured? Throw it in this thread and I'm sure someone will reply at some point .
Looking forward to seeing your next drawing!

I never ink for fear I will screw it it up (and can't afford a wacom pad) thus never color I shall have to post here and see what happens

a wacom is certainly a big name in tablets, but personally i wasn't sure if digital art was for me so i bought the cheapest pad on amazon, it was less than 20 quid and i still use it now, it's great.
And for some software to do you artz digitally, i can't mention GIMP enough It's very similar to photoshop in most aspects with the bonus that it's completely free. http://www.gimp.org/ Then you can scan in your drawings, or draw them digitally and do what you like to them without fear of ruining the original.
Just some info if art sparks your interest, and as DD says, practice, practice, practice. You'll be amazed how quickly you start improving. gl with it mate
If you would like to see what potential you have, but don't want to spend a heap, there's a load of free or cheap stuff for the beginner.

I am kind of a Jack of all trades Master of none type of deal.
Any way thanks for the advise on the Tablet as I'd like to have something. I actually did buy a used waccom about the time I got Poser, but sadly it broke after a year it has a short or something.
Lastly I am very encouraged by the remarks here especially by those that are clearly WAY better then me.
BTW I apologize for the poor analogy...
I think, and CR would probably agree, you don't need a tablet to learn to draw and color. Emphasis on that learn part.
I think you've done quite well on this piece. Have confidence. You know of all places you have supporters here.
As far as programs go. There are the big names, the $600 behemoths, but there are also a lot of great very cheap applications out there, that can offer a lot of what you need. You just need to find them.
Roxy On DA...Finally!

I agree too, you don't actually NEED a tablet to learn how to colour. It's a luxury, really. But drawing and painting with your mouse is far from good for your mousehand. So it is recommended to use a tablet once you start to draw more .
Also, I bought my tablet (wacom intuos 3)...ehm... second-hand? Translate Google says it's good, so... second-hand... or used. It was a brilliant condition when I bought it, was only used once for a demonstration (I've been drawing ALOT on it and now it actually looks used *giggles*) and I got it for 50% the price I would have to pay when buying it new. I got lucky with that one, but I'm sure there are more good deals out there.
If you don't want to screw up your drawing (I've been there too ), just go and scan it, so you'll have a digital copy of the original.
After that you can either ink the original or print the copy and ink that one.
It's always good to have back ups!

But you're absolutely right, you don't need all that stuff to learn, just something to draw with and on and you're all set i only went into tablets and stuff because Xeno mentioned he didn't ink or colour because he couldn't afford a wacom...
And @ Xeno, sorry mate, i did assume there, i should have checked your DA, (good stuff in there btw )

So, I finally decided I wanted to see my Heroes and Villains drawn so badly that I was going to give it a go so this is my start with Xenophage's head
for reference here is the character
I know my drawing isn't nearly as good as others but oh well :P
