Need suggestions for new motherboard / CPU

Well, after a week of problems and troubleshooting the verdict is that the motherboard and CPU need to be replaced on the main computer. (RAM too, but that is dependent on the motherboard.)

*** My knowledge of motherboards is rather out of date. Please help suggest ideas! ***

This is the main gaming PC, two monitors on one GPU, which needs to be able to handle City Of Heroes easily plus other new MMOs released through 2012, and basic internet browsing.

Preferably new 2011 technology under $500 USD; though not necessarily top-of-the-line, released-in-December new. The machine is sorely missed already, so I am trying to find a full motherboard (not micro) & CPU that are easily available. First choice would be to be able to order a replacement part that is in-stock now at NewEgg, ready to ship to USA.
