New Corruptor on SOs?

I was thinking of starting a new corruptor, perhaps Elec/dark, to try a blast set new to me. But the negative comments on Electric warned me off.

I already have a fire/dark, so considered fire/storm - but they are huge endurance hogs, and wondered how they'd do on SOs alone, just in case.

Pretty no one says take this combo for IOs and Incarnates but this other powerset combo works better with just SOs. So I figured I'd ask.

ice/dark?
ice/kin?
fire/cold?

I have a Rad/traps and don't much like him, but he's only level 22.

I'm assuming your a F2P Player since your asking about SO builds. Though you clearly didn't say it since you hinted at Invention IOs.

My general comment is use Mids to create a build you might be interested and look at the numbers. http://www.cohplanner.com/

Storm is a Endurance hog but with Cardiac or Musculature based on your build that should not be a problem. Again if your Free to Play then you can run storm but you will not be able probably run snow storm along with other toggles at the same time.

If your not free to play and looking to learn about the game mechanics then I would suggest reading up on the links in my sig and of course going over to players help section to read up on some other stuff their. EG how mids works to some degree.

Then create a build and post it up for people to inspect and give you advice. But yet again if you don't know at least what the right advice might be you can end up listening to someone who knows less then you but just makes a convincing argument or is a good writer on these forums.

Traps is a very good set even with SO because they are all fire and forget. With an SO build you probably can get some decent numbers with defenses and use a purple inspiration to get you the extra defense you might need. So I don't know what the issues are there.

Again post the build and see what people tell you.

ooh man. seems like Kin would be your best bet. It's easy on the end, you can cap your damage pretty easy, you can give yourself extra recharge..basically all the things that IO's would do.

I am VIP currently, but will be F2P in January. I don't have the paragon points saved to run an IO license for more than a couple of months. Incarnate abilities are out of the questions of course.

I think I know the game mechanics fairly well, but I do not know the powersets well. Hence my question about powersets.

It seemed sort of premature to start talking builds since so far my only concept is trying out a new-to-me set combination that runs well on SOs and no Incarnates. I guess I'll take my chances on the advice I get.

Maybe its the low damage of Radiation, or I've been on fast moving teams that minimize my Traps contribution or I need to level the toon to 35 or so to really evaluate him.

Since you asked for build, here's a build for fire/storm. The endurance usage seems awfully high compared to the end recovery. I did not take tornado because of the knockback, nor thunderclap because the mag of the stun is pretty low.

Thanks for the reply and the build. 12 HO's means 12 hami raids? Seems somewhat problematical since I haven't been on a single hami raid, and almost never see anyone in chat starting one. But I can work around that.

Is the spring attack another attack added for mitigation (knockdown) and AOE damage?

The knockback protection on acrobatics is somewhat low. Is it a case of better some than none at all, since I can't get even one anti KB IO?

Dark, Ice, or Sonic for Primaries, and Pain, Sonic, Cold, TA, and Kin are all viable sans IO's.

The game is still balanced around the SO game, excepting Incarnate content, which you won't be able to run anyhow, so Any/Any should work, but those should be your stronger pairings.

There are a couple of options for endurance management for corruptors using just SOs: if you take the Electricity Mastery APP you can get Power Sink, and Power Mastery has Conserve Power. I tried both with my Storm/Electric defender before IOs existed, and finally settled on Electricity. In combination with Short Circuit PS allows you to completely sap many targets.

Once at level 50 the only end problems I remember having were in protracted AV fights trying to run Snowstorm all the time. Fire probably uses a bit more end than Electric Blast, but then your targets are dying that much faster, so it may be a wash.

Everyone forgets about Radiation because it's old and been done to death, I still find it the best set for leveling and SOs (well dark too, both mature early and dark still gets the pet later but you know that since you have one). Cold matures kinda late (in terms of debuffs) and benefits a lot from IOs, as you'll want a lot of recharge for Benumb and Heat Loss.

Storm is end heavy even with IOs but at least you can get Power Sink on corrs.

Btw ice blast is not very end friendly (some say it's an end hog even) because the blasts animate very fast and you attack a lot due to the lowish AoE in the set (lots of people skip Frost Breath, I find it decent).

Thanks for the replies.

I have a Rad/Sonic Defender so might try Sonic/Cold or Sonic/Kin.

May also try Dark/Cold or Dark/Pain - but Dark Blast seemed to have low damage on my dark/dark defender so have to think about this.

Has Life Drain been buffed for Corruptors?

Oh, thats work, gotta go.

Yes. Life Drain is a lot better now. I love it.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
