I don't like these maps!
Those are the worst. Newer outdoor maps have a sewer gate or a truck or something. I find the best way to deal with these though is to get the NPC on one side of the square, then quickly run/fly around to the other side. If you do it fast enough they'll run towards your end position in a straight line rather than following your path, so they end up going through the square.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

I do agree they are terrible, especially for those that run at a lower graphical setting ... don't know you hit the door till you leave the mission. LOL
Could be worse, there's one map I know of in the AE where the exit literally isn't where the glowing box is, it's somewhere else entirely. Or it used to be anyway, not sure if that was fixed or not.
Simple fix for this one though - just increase the radius at which the escort will notice the exit and leave - ideally only on these maps. Standard code rant probably applies there though.

I was trying to lead a Rikti to the exit and could not get him to enter the exit zone. My suggestion is, could we not use these types of maps for escorting an NPC to the exit, or place a sewer hatch at the exit zone?
