Post-VIP Question

Like a lot of free players, I'm enjoying the game enough to purchase the VIP starter kit at its Black Friday Price.

I've noticed that the VIP status unlocks quite a few powersets and archetypes that were locked to free players.

Suppose I create a character using one of the VIP powersets. When my VIP subscription ends, assuming I don't continue it, will I lose access to that character, even if it is my only one?

Much appreciated for any answers.

If you make a character with the Time Manipulation powerset, you would not be able to keep playing it unless you bought the powerset. Same thing with a Mastermind AT or a Controller AT. You'd have to buy the option from the market to unlock those ATs.

When you let your VIP lapse all of your characters will be locked and you will be issued the appropriate number of unlock tokens to use on characters of your choice.

You will not be able to unlock characters that are Controlers, MM's, Khelds or Soldier of Arachnos unless you have the paid to unlock them in the store or gained enough Pargon Reward points to have them unlock permanently.

I believe this is slightly incorrect - you can unlock the slot the character is in, but you will still be barred from using the character requiring you delete it or buy the unlocks.

Question: when a friend of mine clicks on the 'become a VIP' in the game character select screen, it is listing it as 14.99 - does it change at the end of the transaction or something?

If they are trying to take advantage of the black Friday offer, you need to go via the ncsoft.com website, I believe

The sale is for a new account only so far as I know, can't be applied to an existing account.

Yeah that's fine, we are just figuring out the sale and how to do the 'refer a friend' for 500 pts thing too.

It states very plainly that it CAN be applied to an existing account, but only a FREE account (not Premium, not VIP).

The Refer a Friend thing requires you to purchase a month of VIP to get credit, which removes the ability to do the VIP starter kit (you can't have spent any money on your account to use the starter kit).

Ok you confused me there, since the VIP starter kit does buy you a month of VIP.

When the person gets a Refer a Friend code, it requires them to sign up for VIP time to activate the Referral. The Starter Kit is not an option for subscription when using Refer a Friend.

Since it requires them to subscribe, they cannot use the Starter Kit. You can't have spent any money on the account before using the starter kit.

Ok, now they are going to just buy the VIP starter kit and forget the points, but now it is getting to a point where it asks them to confirm it via email and they haven't received the email, even after using the Resend button, and even though they have already received email from NCSoft already.
