Maybe dumb, but .. Alpha slot question

AGILITY CORE PARAGON -- For all powers: Increases Endurance Modification by 45%, Recharge Rate by 33% and Defense Buffs by 20%.

NERVE CORE PARAGON -- For all powers: Increases Accuracy by 45%, Hold duration by 33%, and Defense Buff effects by 20%


So I guess my question really boils down to two things that I want to get clear

Do either of these help my own personal defense in any way shape or form or is this simply for buffing others, and effects of someone else's toon buffing you

Any help in clarifying would be much appreciated.

It's the same thing. The effect boosts any power that can be enhanced for Defense.

This applies to any power to have that could be slotted for Defense, whether it be a primary, secondary, pool or ancillary power. This applies whether the power affects you, another player, or the team.

This does NOT apply to Defense gained from IO sets.

In general, the more Defense powers you have, the better a high-tier version of either of these alphas is likely to be for you.

AKA if a power of yours accepts standard common IOs for that ability (Combat Jumping taking Defense enhancements, for example) the Alpha boost will work as an enhancement for that power at the listed percent.

It will NOT affect other peoples powers affecting you or not.

The Architect Edition is nice to get because as far as I know it still comes with a choice between the Magic Booster Pack and the Science Pack.

Althoug I prefer the Radial Paragon version of the two T4 Alphas you mention they can all be very useful. They act as an extra enhancement for every power you have that accepts defense. The 20% boost in part ignores ED. The new Agility Radial (End Mod, Rchg Rate, Move Speed, Defense) hits every problem area except the damage penaly on my Granite tank, and even helps there with better attack rate.

For my main tank it super powers Granite, Weave, and Manuevers and permits extra endurance reduction slotting. It also allows me to Two slot my Rock, Crystal, and Minerals. The 3 slots gained are really golden. It gains another slot by allowing a two slot swift. It puts Stamina over 100%. The Rechage boost improves dps and the endurance mod supports the extra attacks so you don't run dry.
