Necro/Fire am I crazy?
Seems like a viable and fun combination, though you'll probably be spending a lot of time playing whack-a-mole with healthbars.
On Spring Attack, no idea, but I suspect it has a hit roll.
Yes, you're crazy, but that doesn't mean it might not work out really well.
If you do, write it up?
Firstly, no, Spring Attack is not autohit.
As for Necro/Thermal, I don't think it's the best combo, but it's certainly not the worst. The shields and the heals, including the self-heal that all necro pets eventually get, will help keep your pets alive. I wish my Necro/Poison could reroll as anything with some shields or bubbles to take advantage of that self-heal, but it just wouldn't work from a concept pov. A set with +def would probably help even more, but Thermal is a great set and will certainly pull its weight in aiding your pets/team.
If you like it, play it.
Someone once told me, "the only thing more dangerous than a zombie, is a zombie engulfed in fire," and I'd say that's what you'll think after rolling this character, especially after getting forge.
I have a necro/thermal. It's not a juggernaut, but it's more than capable. The fire shields and the generous PbAoE area of thermal's heal help Necro pets a great deal. The targeted AoE of the shields helps a lot. The zombie variety of attacks is good, too. Smashing, lethal, toxic set up your foes for when you get the late-arriving debuffs in heat exhaustion and melt armor. It also has the recharge intensive pet at level 18 that you can slot the Recharge intensive pet set defense and resistance bonuses in. Go for it!

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
I used to play CoH some time ago and I just recently came back. If I remember correctly, the main problems with my zombies were that fire just absolutely destroyed them and sometimes they would be 1 shot so fast I could not heal them.
Fire would take away this fire weakness and would increase resistance so I can respond quickly with a heal. Also, since the heal is PBAoE I can always be in melee range with the pets. Is this not a good combination? I rarely see it.
Also, is spring attack auto-hit?
