Thinking of making a Mind/Nrg Dom..

Its fun. Its not /Fire, but its still fun. Generally, my early levels consisted of:
I need to do something Dom while waiting for new Dom stuff and I have never played a Mind character. I dont want /Fire because I already have enough Fire toons. I was thinking Mind/NRG would be a good combo especially since I already have a set of fortunata purples and a confuse set of purples on another toon I am stripping because I dont play him much.
My thought is to make a Mental/TK character and this combo seems to fit that concept well. Anyone play one that can share some advice, tricks or tips? Thanks in advance. |
- confuse foe #1
- dominate foe #2
- power push foe #3
All three foes are otherwise involved, so have fun blasting and bonesmashing your way through them.
Your AoE goodness will be lacking with this combination. You can fix that by taking the Fire APP though that probably won't fit your concept.
-Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein.
-I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use. - Galileo Galilei
-When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. - Thomas Jefferson
i figured I would dip into Force Mastery for Explosive Blast and Energy Torrent for some more AoE damage and it fits the theme. This toon will need hover because it will probably do decent knockback.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

If you'd like, I can post my main villain's spec, and I have to tell you up front, it is kind of a challenge. Your lack of AOE damage, as already mentioned is not nearly as big a handicap as it appears at first, though. With the exception of the Incarnate trials, which invalidate Mind control completely, you are going to be hoverblasting your way through mission after mission in relative safety fairly early on in your career. This is the first villain I made aside from my namesake, and is to date the villain I have played the most often. His NRG powers are basically RP'd as blunt telekinetic force, so he fits a theme that is easy for me to enjoy. Send me a PM if you'd like his build or have any other questions. I've been playing him since CoV launch and still love him to death.

Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!

What? Because you don't have an AoE immobilize to spam during the BAF?

My own experience with a mind/nrg dom has been quite different in the iTrials. Aggro free controls help shake pursuers in Lambda. With Mass Hypnosis and Total Dom and a bit of defense, I've even soloed containers and crates with just a few scratches. In Keyes, Mass Confusion is an excellent way to gain access to guarded terminals. (Confuse the entire mob and they no longer count as present.) And your controls are as valid in the UG as much as any other control sets. So aside from the BAF, Mind's controls are just as useful in the other trials.
