Enders Game casting confirmed
I was worried about this happening and it seems I'm right. I figured the studios would be afraid to make the movie like the book, with young children. Instead it's going to be teens which totally destroys the entire concept of the book. That a child's ability to learn and adapt more quickly are what enable them to be effective.
Unless they are having a different actor play Ender when he starts battle school and Asa plays him later on.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
The dude looks 8 in all the pics I see. And he sorta looks like an Ender.
What I wanna know is, who's gonna play Bean, Petra and Bonzo? And maybe Achilles?

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012
The kid looks ok for ender.. the description of the movie is so not like the books though.
I noticed the site has it under "Anime" news. Is this going to be animated or live action? If it's going to be animated, the age of the actor isn't really a factor since he will just be voicing the part.
I agree though, there is a specific reason why they choose kids in the book and not teenagers or adults. If they change that, it really messes with the underlying plot a great deal.
Of those of you that read "Ender's Game", did any of you also read "Ender's Shadow"? For those that don't know, ES is not really a sequel to EG, it's the same story being told from Bean's point of view instead of Ender's. While that may seem pointless, the two books are really quite different because of the difference in how Ender perceives the events and how Bean perceives them.

The kids are taught a competitive game thats a cross between the Quidditch matches of Harry Potter and the Jedi light saber battles from Star Wars. |
I find your lack of signature disturbing.
your = Belonging to you.
you're = Contraction meaning "You are."
Ur = The name of an ancient Mesopotamian city.
ur = This is not a word.
What's interesting is if you click the Deadline link which they had "gotten" the quote from, the line reads quite differently.

A friend of mine just said that the quidditch and lightsabers description was kind of like saying a computer is a combination of pumpkin pie and a monkey.

There is no mention of Quidditch or Lightsabers. Either they changed it, or someone's being stupid.
But there is mention of Orci and Kurtzman, as well as Card himself, as being producers, and I'm thinking now... this is going to be ok. Card *shouldn't* let this become an utter fiasco, I would think, unless he's desperately ill a la Steve Jobs and looking to hurry it up so it's done before he expires... in which case, we'll get Wing Commander.
Although, I fully admit, that Orci and Kurtzman could bring us Wing Commander anyway, despite Card's best efforts...
/The first Wing Commander game was awesome at the time... never did finish it though. Computer was a 286 at the time, and the game *crawled* through the cutscenes... and flying the ships sometimes crawled too... I sooo wanted to be good at it...
//Kilrathi are big puss... no, I just can't do it. The mods will kill me, I just know it.
