I think we are on version 4, right? lol. I am learning a lot, but it is a hard curve. Who knew Thunderstrike did no tmean 1.25 + 1.25 but 1.25 +2.5? i never would have read it that way. And other mysteries.

Anyways, I think I am very close to the final build. (Now to just get to 50!) - I mentioned I re-rolled in another thread. the concept was slightly off, but still loving the build idea.

anyways, here is the culmination of a few days work. It is less gimped on damage on the attacks I use the most than previous versions, and relies on Conserve Power to solve long term End issues. It has less AoE than previous versions, since for concept reason I switched from soul Mastery to Cold Mastery. But I also switched the sets in the core AoE powers to hard hitting damage sets, rather than muling them for Range def. Picked up the area sleep is nice. the toggle slow looks like it is just muling, but in fact will fit delightfully into my Nuke chain. ( red insp, Hasten, Conserve Power, Aim, Build Up, Ice Storm, Blizzard, sm blue, and Snow Storm...)

Yeah Deadboy, I actually ripped off your build for ideas, thanks! I had thought that fighting pool (3 picks) would be dumb, until I saw it on yours. It worked out very nice, especially since I re-rolled the character (was 33 Rogue, planned for Ice/Nrg/Soul) into a Hero (Ice/Nrg/Ice, now 28). I tend to be very visual, so looking at a thing in Mids helps me a lot. Also grabbed the BOTZ idea, and took another look at 3 sets of Thunderstrikes, instead of the two I was using.

Looking forward to getting him to 50, slapping the build on, and doing some incarnate triasls. I may make one more tweak, but only if someone throws me another great idea. (Please!) I am very set on Ice/Nrg/Ice/Fighting/Flight&Hover/Stealth&Invisibility/Hasten. What I am looking for now is a way to squeeze the build by cleverly getting the same defense at less of a Enhancer slot cost. Then I can use those enhancer slots to buff one of the other areas that need some love.

My big wish right now is to find a way to slot Apocalypse in Ice Bolt, while not jostling the build to heck in a handbasket.

Why not just post your new versions to the same thread instead of making brand new threads. It'll make it easier for people to read the progression history and you won't convolute the forums with multiple threads with all the same topic. Replying to your own thread will still bump it to the top of the page, you don't need to write a new thread.

On a different note, I think you will like Ageless destiny. When your nuke causes you to crash, you can refill your blue bar. In fact, if you take burnout, you could go red insp - conserve power- build up - aim - ice storm - blizzard - ageless - burnout - build up - aim - ice storm - blizzard. Could be a fun little rain of death scenario.

Well there's two sides to what you are asking for. You can either go for a capped Ranged DEF build or a Capped S/L DEF build (Since you're taking Cold mastery).

The build that I posted is a layered defense (high amount of defense atop a resistance shield).

I can make you a capped s/l DEF build but it wont have the same amount of resistance.

Here is an example of a softcapped S/L Hover Blaster (again no melee attacks taken). This build should be cheaper than the ranged build (it does not have the hella expensive 2.5 billion glad proc) but it will still be expensive.

Thanks Deadboy, but the decision tree that led to Ranged defense was practically the first one.

It was like, I want to not be in melee. Why not just get ranged attacks? After all, in all the documentation is says Blasters are Ranged. (In fact, there are quite a number of Primary and Secondaries sets in Blaster archtype where the designers appeared to have completely ignored this fact.) So, ranged.

Now, if it is my main I will I/O. What are the I/O goals? Hmm, always at range...Range softcap ftw.

The hardest part was decision 3, which Primary and Secondary to go with. I hate redraw, so as much as I like the gun sets and the crashless Nukes they were out. Most other sets have PBAoE, toggle PBaoE, etc. Ice/Nrg won it, although for awhile Dark/Nrg was in contention.

The last decision is what I am working on now. I have a pencil sketch of what I want my I/O build. I am just trying to getit perfect before I start painting. Which in game terms means start assembling the I/Os. I have a Glad Proc +3% sitting in base storage, so no worries there. But most of my previous mains focused on raw damage and recharge, so I will need to start shopping for Ranged Defense sets.

I dont know if some of the old school Blasters will remember "jousting" - way back before IOs were invented close range blasters would just joust in and out of melee range (I still do this today on my Blaster) using superspeed.

Funny you should mention it. I am just getting into blasting seriously. I ran a Dark/psi up to low 40s a few weeks back. what i did not like was having to jump into the spawns to drain psyche and nuke. Thats where the core of this idea comes from. They promised me ranged damage. I want ranged damage! (and no redraw...)
