Thank you, Zwillinger
He has a PM box, y'know.
But this way I can chime in and offer thanks as well.
Thanks.
Zwill's a good egg, that's for sure.
A "GG" post usually has the structure of a {useless comment} followed immediately by an {emoticon}.
The useless comment is sometimes one word, a rather short post that contains no new or useful information, or (as you put it) is purely Dev/Mod brown-nosing. There are other variations, but these are atypical. The typical effect is that it inflates her post count, nothing more. Additionally, these are usually present in large numbers in a given thread at regular intervals.
As Charnage noted, your first post does fit that pattern. Fortunately, your second in this thread does break the pattern. <silliness>I think it may have been a short term affliction, but you may want to have a professional take a look at that, just to be sure.</silliness>

The key difference between 'GG Posts' and 'My post' is that she makes said snarky short comment-emoticon statements in discussions that are sort of substantial, whereas I (granted, following a comparable format) made a condemning comment in a pointless thread.
There's a big difference between having nothing to say whatsoever when contributing to a topic that's worth discussion and posting a 'this is pointless' comment in a thread that is well... Pointless.

That really assumes there is a correct head...

Keep it up Zwill. This is an intentionally public acknowledgement to you.
Yes, Z, You have been top notch.

I just think it's pretty-freaking-silly to start a thread praising the voice of the dev team after a completely atrocious issue update that broke more things than it fixed... Especially considering the fact that this forum has a PM system for a reason- When you have a message to direct to a certain person, you message it to them.
The only conceivable reason for anyone to start or post in a thread brown-nosing the community team after they broke everyone's UI and bases is... Well, I'm assuming to score points or something? And if that's your thing, why not at least do it in an appropriate section of the board? You're starting a thread about it which means you want to get as much attention as you possibly can rather than just sending a 'thank you' PM so what's the sense in doing it in the Proctector forum...?

If you don't agree with the thread, why are you still posting in it?
It was a nice gesture. If you don't like it, move on. Geesh.
So let us be silly. Or even freakin silly. What business is it of yours? It's still a step up from obnoxiously childish, meddlesome, and plain old mentally retarded. I can PM that to you if it will make you feel better.

Besides, Z is NOT the Devs. Be like blaming a Flight Attendant for a bad landing.
+1 on the good job, Z! Ignore THB.
August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.
This is houtex, aka Mike, signing off the forums. G'night all. - 10/26/2012
Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012
It's kind of sad that a thread that was started to show Z some appreciation has been marred by this little bit of drama, but I think some clarification is in order to bring the drama to a tidy close and move forward with the positivity.
Sooner, I believe THB does not understand why you chose to use the Protector public forum versus using a PM or posting this thread in a more public forum, like the General discussion forum. Would you please elaborate for THB and the rest of the thread readers why you chose this method over all others.

1. Why did I offer a thank you post at all?
Zwill is getting raked over the coals out there. He is not a dev, he's just the messenger, so why anyone would attack him, I don't know. However, I meant what I said in the first post. I really appreciate the job Zwill does for us. I remember one occassion he was up and posting updates at 2:30 am (my time). I don't remember EVER seeing a community rep staying up all night just to keep us informed. I appreciate that.
2. Why did I make the thank you public?
I believe strongly that one should praise in public and scold in private. That's how I manage my staff, and I try to keep that in mind whenever I have either "praise" or "scolding" in any context.
3. Why did I post it on Protector Forums instead of a more general forum?
Two reasons:
First, many of the Protector forumites rarely venture off the Protector Forum, and if anyone shared my feelings, I wanted to make sure they had the opportunity to say so as well.
Second, I rather optimistically assumed that if I posted it on the Protector forum that there was a reduced chance of a ******* coming into my thread and behaving like an *******. .... oh well.
What is it about this time of year!?
My Stories
Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
I guess it's fair enough. Sorry for being snippy with you about this, I was just extremely aggravated yesterday after all my UI's exploded (not to mention how irksome the more extensive and undocumented AE nerfs were) and I sort of lashed at you a bit.
I'll concede that you're welcome to your thread- I know Zwil isn't the person to blame for anything but he is a representative of those who are... I guess it would just be best for me to apologize for being rude to you and keep my mouth shut on the subject from this point forward.
You are so good about keeping us informed and letting us know what's going on.
You are unfailingly patient and polite even when we're not.
You are more engaged with the players than any other Dev/Mod I can remember in quite awhile, and we appreciate it.
Thank you!
