For anyone too lazy to clicky the linky: Synonymous with Exemplar, but usually only used Villain-side, "to mal" or "to malefactor" is to join a team running at a lower level than your character, where your combat level is reduced to that of the mission owner, and you lose access to powers you gained from 6+ levels higher than the mission holder.

Case in point I started playing this game back long before City of Villians existed so I got used to calling it "exing" or "exemping down" (for blueside exemplaring). TBH even though I've been playing this game for over 7 years and have run at least a dozen villains in that time I still didn't instantly recongize/remember what you meant by your "mal" term myself.

Ok I am far from a noob, and have been playing mmos since they were text based, but what is this mal I keep hearing? mal off, mal down? I am unfamiliar with that term.
