Tweak LFG?
i think a bigger problem with the LFG thing is while queued you cannot enter instanced maps. period.
while queued you have no base access, and no instanced mishs (hunts and street sweep are about it)
Why not just pick and player and send them a tell requesting and invite. If no responce ... left click on their name, it gives you an option to send their team leader or league leader a message. Easiest way to get into one. Then make firends with the player that is league and team leaders ... they usually are the ones forming them.

The LFG Queue is a great idea in concept. The problem is that it just doesn't work. People don't use it since you can't do anything worthwhile as you wait, people mostly make pre-formed Trials, the function to join a Trial in progress has never worked once for me and it has no real feedback. "Average wait time: 5 minutes" it says, but that's a lie. Unless I can SEE a list of the people queueing and the teams that are forming out of it, I can't tell how long I'll have to wait.
Using the LFG queue while in an instance should be the highest priority.

And this fixes the LFG tool how, exactly?

I don't think they can make it work in instances. if they did it'd either mean finding some way to keep track of everything you were doing in the instance, which means objectives and spawns etc, or just yanking you out of the instance and resetting it. Same with the bases. It would seriously screw things up if you were int he middle of editing and got yanked out via the queue.
|
i think it should be allowed because if your base editing it could automatically say no, or not allow you to edit the base while in the queue
i dont know how it would work, but not being able to queue in an instance is a serious limitation of the queue system for solo people to join events and not get bored

As for base editing, the editor crashes to the desktop all the time and doesn't destroy my base, it can't be that bad. Worst case they could always disable base editing while in LFG.
Honestly, the LFG tool should have two additional sections:
Trial Choice and LFG Alert.
You basically choose which trial you want, then insert yourself into the LFG queue.
When someone starts up a trial group, they select their trial choice and are made aware that there are people in the LFG queue. They can opt to auto-recruit them at the time and it dumps these people into the league.
Once the trial fills, the leader queues for said trial and boom.
The LFG queue system has a couple of problems.
1) "Join an event already in progress" doesn't let you join events that have vacancies unless they've dropped below the minimum level necessary to play it. It should let you join events that have dropped below the maximum level allowed. 2) You can sit in the LFG queue all day while trials form left, right, and center if every trial fills completely before it starts. The way that Incarnate trials are formed by people hanging out in RWZ or Pocket D, inviting until they have two or three full teams, doesn't give those people waiting in the LFG queue any way to get in unless and until someone starts a not-quite-full trial and leaves it open for others to join. Is there any way these issues could be addressed? |
The problem isn't the LFG. it's that they added it. They don't have the option to join TF/SFs after they start. They should've just left it that way.

Joining TF teams in progress is something that should happen, and all TFs need to be put in the LFG Queue. Its primary benefit is ease of access, and that's indispensable. Easily the WORST part of any team task is the recruitment process. Even the worst teams, even the biggest failures, even the most horrible teaming experiences pale before half an hour of sitting on my hands waiting for something to happen.
The LFG Queue needs to be fixed so it works, not sidestepped like people are doing.

No, they should not have. Not being able to join TFs in progress is one of the TF system's biggest faults, both because you have to recruit before hand and because if people drop, you can't finish. The original restriction on joining TF teams in progress was not a balancing feature, it's a side effect of the development team expecting people to run TFs over multiple sessions. They made the teams static so that people who logged out would not be kicked from the team, which also meant that people could not be added to a TF team in progress.

The other thing they could fix at the same time as the option to be in que for LFG while in mission ... is to recieve a team invite while in mission (if you have LFT in the /search channel)
A cool effect that they could add, each TF/SF/trial has a message sent to a "team event" message board like: "hero zone event message" so when something is starting to be formed anyone who's looking at that gets informed. The team leder whaen they click on the contact will choose forming team for TF/SF/Trial. I'm going to try and pull a ful idea together, then I'll post more.
