On the first page for brutes there are two threads titled solo MoITF, both were done with SS/fire (and its SS then fire or FA, these are brutes not tanks) hopefully that answers the first question.
Soloing a normal ITF is easy, hardest part would be getting filler imo. Just need decent dmg and decent survivablity. I would expect ur build could do it (i havent looked tho)

Slot for resistance first of all. Don't just take the power. Second hope this is purely an end game build because plasma shield is your hold/sleep resistance.
If you plan on running DN and BA all the time, then your end is going to hurt. Obliterations don't provide a whole lot of end reduction and FS alone is going to use almost 16 end every 7 sec. Slot a +end performance shifter in Stamina. Won't solve your problems but it can help some.
Gloom is underslotted.
Flurry is overslotted.
You'd get more S/L defense from Rectified Reticle in 2 slots than you do from 6 slotting Gaussian's. That said if you will be able to afford running DN at all times your defense is probably high enough long as you don't kill the anchor, but 1 purple could also solve this.
Personally on the build I used for my Mo run I didn't even build for E/N def. that's not to say I had none, just that I didn't specifically build for it... 90% of the ITF is S/L.

right i understand now, so i should build for resistance as you say Energy_Blaze, then everything else afterwards, obviously i must have some defense, aswell as 45% capped s/l ?
but i must make sure the resistances are up first gotcha, i do apoligise if i seemed rude or aggressive but your first post did come across as a tad abrupt and ultrawatt although i know you have soloed an itf, your comments seem degrading and pretty much unhelpful.
just my opinion, although on saying that thank you both for the help, ill be sure to post my build for another look at.

Build for what SS/FA does best to begin with. Don't sacrifice the strengths to get other usually smaller benefits from IOs. For instance, slot your attacks for accuracy, damage and endurance. Slot your shields for resistance. Basics first, secondary benefits secondary.
I haven't reviewed the builds in here so far but you can get permahaste and soft capped s/l and still have all the basics working too.
i need a build for soloing, now i understand FA/SS is great for pretty all ingame content, from i been reading in the posts and i just wanted to see if its possible an FA/SS can solo an itf?
if so what would i be building for specifically on mids?
energy and negative defense mostly and smash/lethal.
high damage mitigation and a decent attack chain.
i can only get up to 30% s/l defense and 32-33% energy and negative defense.
would that be enough?
