Keyes Badge Runs: Sundays (10/30 and beyond)

Very frustrating day. On our 3rd attempt, we were nailing Green Stuff and had gotten past AM's third regeneration. Then, some genius in the league decided to rez in the middle of the frakkin' obliteration beam. Game over.

No amount of preparation can overcome that kind of stupid. Sorry if I sound harsh, but there was no valid reason for that attempt to have failed, when we were literally seconds away from finishing the trial.

On the plus side, the remnants of the league (six of us), took down the Seed of Hami. Thanks to those who stuck around for that, gaining me another badge. So, the afternoon wasn't a complete loss.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

I'm beginning to wish I'd started a log of ways Green Stuff failed when I started this. It's aggravating now, but when we get there, things like "Truck stopped backwards movement, wasn't quite out of the beam" will be funny. (That was me, a couple of months ago.)

So, yeah, only did a successful Bunker Buster today.

We were missing a lot of regulars and semi-regulars today. I suppose with the holiday season, it's to be expected, because after all...

I won't be able to do this next Sunday. To make up for it, I'm going to try to do it next Saturday when I get home from work (likely between 4:00 and 4:30 PM EST). To answer the concern expressed by one of the regulars who can't make it: In the event that the comedy of errors doesn't continue, I'll still keep the Sunday runs going for a while. Although I may put them on hiatus until January.

Placta, thanks once again to organizing these runs. It's a lot of work building the teams, and prepping the league in advance with detailed instructions. It probably doesn't get said enough, but again, "Thank you!"

I should be able to make the Saturday run. I'll occasionally pop into these forums to see if you post any updates.

You know, it's going to be especially sweet when we nail Green Stuff. Should have had it last week. Should have had it today. We're on the doorstep, knocking away. So close. We'll get it.

Sorry I screwed up last Sunday's almost successful run T_T

I know this isn't diffinitive, and there's no way to ensure success on the greenstuff badge aside from all players' cooperation, but here are a few things that a team did when I was with them and we got the badge successfully:

  • No flying/jumping
  • One player monitored health for timestop/ gave time warnings before the beam hit. When timestop was near, people were told to stop damage, be ready to move. When the beam was coming soon, they could only use fast animating powers. These warnings helped a lot.
  • Characters were asked to stay spread. This meant there was less clumping, fewer people in an area to be hit, so it reduces the number/odds of being hit, and the spread meant the green was less masked by players' characters/fx.
  • Players were asked to recolor rebirth powers to avoid visual confusion from those powers' large green rings.
  • This one was controversial, but melee archetypes were asked to only use ranged powers, and NEVER go in those corners by the console machinery, as it was easy to get caught back there in the patches. I'm not certain how much good the 'no melee' rule did, but the "don't melee the back/corner computers" did save us.
  • No lore pets until after all the consoles, so that the timestop could be more easily predicted, and so that mobility was easier.
  • A personal note, the bubble for the patch extends a foot or two beyond the graphic's border, so getting 'barely clear' can still get you caught.

Sorry, not sure if that's helpful, but thought I might share if it could help.

These are good points. I'd also like to point out that Placta has been updating the initial post of this thread with notes compiled from previous attempts. If you'd like a breakdown of what we're trying, I'd check there first.

(If your points are in reference to the badge runs I lead, I just wanted to clarify that I never asked people not to use melee attacks overall. What I had asked was for people not to melee the terminals, as it tended to cause many melee players to lose visibility of the beam area, especially if the beam overlapped the terminals. I also recommended players save their Judgement powers for such an occasion, providing them with an effective ranged method of taking the terminals out quickly. However, this strategy was abandoned after I decided it was easier to just leave the terminals all together such that all anyone had to focus on during Anti Matter's regeneration were the beams. Notes from these runs can be found here.)

Then put my input in the 'derp' category, Amygdala.

I didn't notice how much the OP had changed. Sorry guys, carry on.

You're welcome. And of course, thank you, and everyone else who's come out and stuck with it this long. I can handle failure, especially when we're getting closer every time. I'd have given up months ago if forming was regularly a chore.

I remember the feeling when we finally got Loves a Challenge. Green Stuff's going to be even better, because it's taken longer, and the way we didn't get it last week was particularly cruel. (And because I have it on my emp due to a bugged run with no Green Stuff. WTB badge transfer!)

Sorry if I said something that made you feel singled out. That wasn't my intention, and almost never is; it's why I went with listing one of my mistakes rather than someone else's.

Anyway, pancake happens. And it gave me one more thing to mention in my briefings

Hey, good advice is good advice, and you can't hear it too often. Thank you for offering help

I've currently got the start time set at 4:30 EST. I'll probably be able to start before then, but I'd rather be early than late.

No worries, mostly was directed to Spatch's frosty posting.

23 hours to go time. See you all in Pocket D.

The apology was appreciated, Sov. I might try abstaining from posting immediately following failed trials. I know your mistake during the trial was entirely unintentional.

I should be on in about 40-50 minutes to start forming for today.

Had trouble getting people this week, so by time we formed we only had time for two runs. We got Anti-Anti-Matter on the second run, but never came close to a successful Green Stuff or Loves a Challenge run.

Thanks all who came out this week, and sorry to the Sunday regulars who couldn't because of the day change.

Next week, I'll be able to play on Sunday again, so we're back to our normal day and time.

One more thing...

There's a good chance that the Winter Event will start this week, in which case Pocket D will be filled with BNY farmers, skiers, and other Eventgoers. To avoid annoying them too much, we'll go somewhere else; I'm open to suggestions, but I think that the AE building in the RWZ would be good.

Posted

As expected, the Winter Event went live today. (Well, I expected it after maintenance Thursday, but the point stands.) That means Pocket D will no longer be a nice quiet place for us to gather.

So between that and wanting some separation from normal Incarnate trials (ruling out the Vanguard Base), we need a new gathering spot. It needs to be co-op and have easy access to an inspiration vendor; a tailor (or at least a trainer) is a nice plus.

I've thought of three ideas: RWZ AE, Cimerora, and the Survivor compound in First Ward. If you have other suggestions, or feedback on these, please let me know. I'll choose a final spot by Saturday's heads-up post.

This is tomorrow, about 24 hours from now.

After consideration, I think it's best to stay in Pocket D, only in the Monkey Fight Club area rather than the central area. If it does turn out that we can't coexist with the Winter Event in the same zone, we can go somewhere else then and I'll bump this thread with the new location.

I've been in Pocket D the last half hour doing the ski runs (reminding myself that no matter how many times I fail a badge, I'll get it eventually, heh), and it's deserted. So I think we can just form up in the center rather than the Monkey Fight Club after all. Again, if we do run into problems we can go somewhere else.

I'll be back in Pocket D in about 25 minutes to start forming.

WE DID IT! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

Thank you to the fantastic group of regular attendees: Amy, Koriel, Steel and Ima, Spatch, Cutlass, Eva, Tenjoy, and Jitsy* for coming out week after week, and grats on the badges.

I'm going to take a break from Sunday stuff for Christmas and New Year's, then probably launch something new on the 8th.

I love this server.

* If I missed someone, I'm sorry.

Congratulations, Placta and company.

Thanks Placta for arranging all of these runs over the last few months. And thanks to all the regulars who made it out week after week.

Congrats to all who finally nailed MoKeyes! I literally yelped with joy when we finished the trial today, when I saw the message confirming a successful Green Stuff run.

Dude I got up and was fist pumping the air, almost knocked Ima off her seat sitting next to me. This was definitly one badge where team work was paramount especially for green stuff badge.
