DB/WP Build Help

Hello all! I'm working on trying to soft cap my gf's new 50th and I'm having trouble softcapping her. I don't have much experience with either power set so I'm a little bit in the dark here. I'm also unsure of an incarnate alpha for her. Spiritual would help the most from the looks of it because of the lack of recharge in the build right now. Any help would be awesome!

PS: I know there's 2 slots left. I've just given up and don't know what to do.

Here's my build for you to make some changes to your build with. [NOTE: My levels on the IOs for exemping purposes]

Obliterartion is just a waste imo with a DB/WP build.

With my build, I have no need for the Alpha to run BF-Attack Vitals-Repeat, and I also never run out of END...EVER...sappers are laughed, even if they hit once, they never hit twice.

In fact, outside of some AE enemies setup to be serious sappers, I don't recall an enemy in normal PvE that has drained this build of END, and the build can attack non-stop and pretyt much gain END.

That said, as for which Alpha Slot to go with...

Truthfully, I just didn't need Cardiac's ENDRED, and the +Resist didn't seem like much.

Nerve added like 2-3% to Defense, so that's good for getting E/N Softcapped, and a few more points to the F/C Defense. ACC isn't really a worry with this build, but hey, there's nothing really wrong with even MORE ACC (and there's been a few enemies I noticed a difference on, having more +ACC over +toHit...like Paragon Protections).

Spiritual Adds a tiny more +HP/Regen, and +RCH that this build really doesn't need. However I like to use it as a weak version of slow resist, but even then it's not really that helpful (the build even with added +RCH and 20% Slow Resist can still have the power slowed to a crawl).

Now while I went with Spiritual (just fit my concept to do so), I get the feeling Masculation is the best choice for this build (and possibly going Radial).

I believe that's an additional 10 DPS (the build does about 190 DPS before Alpha/Interface).

Go Radial to add in even more ENDMOD enhancement to laugh off the sappers even more. Some +Run Speed, as the build relies on Sprint+Swift+Ninja Run, and little things like more Defense Debuff for the attacks and RTTC even gets a -ToHit increase for just a little more survival.

I'm likely to believe at least on the Alpha Slot, DB/WP (and likely WP builds in general) are better off going Masculation on the Alpha.

I like the build but I'm still staring at the 2billion part of it that would take awhile to get. Everything else looks pretty good. I didn't think to put kinetics in brawl and boxing. That definitely got it to the softcap I was going for.

Dropping one thousand cuts was one thing she mentioned and was a good idea. The animation time on it is just way too long.

Strength of will seems like a lackluster ability but yeah, it would be another spot for reactives.

I guess I'll get her to shoot for this build, I think she'll drop combat jumping and throw in fly instead. Can easily just swap the location of it with fast healing. It'll be quite awhile before she's softcapped because of that gladiator but one purple shouldn't be too big a deal if she's ever soloing.

One thing I noticed though, you didn't have any room for hasten?

My question is, would this be feasible or is hasten really not needed? I think if I did leave hasten in there I would drop confront to put fly back in, she's not going to need it for solo/duoing or incarnate things.

This was my attempt at a slightly cheaper version. it only lost probably 10% recharge from the version you posted.

Sorry, I can only check out data chunks for some reason.

However, Hasten isnt needed for the build I posted no.

Yup, drop Confront, take Fly I took Confront mainly for holding Recluse on the STF when a tank wasn't available.

Hasten really isn't needed. You'd just be suffering from an END Crash. Though it would help on those times of being massivley slowed, I'm sure (but not likely enough).

Like I said, I just posted my build to give ideas on what can be done I think the two PvP IOs are worth going after, but that's just my opinion.

Typhoon Edge really isn't that great of an AOE, but with Sweeping Strike and me just loving the animation of TE, it's why I went that route.

Mkay thank you I'll see what I can do to make it not too expensive for her. I can understand why the resistance debuff PvP IO would be nice.

If I lose maybe 10% recharge off the build you posted will it disrupt the attack chain? I can always throw one purple set back in if needed.

You could stop by swapping out the nine Hami-O's? Here's a link to an older post with more links to other DB/WP builds: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...38&postcount=4

From looking at a lot of other "gotta softcap my WP" builds, it seems as though a lot of them start making sacrifices here or there to reach the softcap. Willpower already comes with resistances and regeneration, so layering defenses on top of that is just icing on the cake, and "really close" to softcap plus resistances plus a truckload of regen will still let you survive most anything.

To make another of my many analogies: BrandX's DB/WP build is kind of like the Bigfoot of monster trucks -- it's totally awesome for what it does, but there's only a handful of guys in the country who can (and will) put something like that together! Most of the rest of us are happy with an off-road capable rig that will go wherever we point it and not get stuck, for less than the cost of a house.

Check out that link for some more [virtual] wallet-friendly budget build ideas.

Heh. This is true. One of the reasons I said "Use it as a guide towards making your own" I use the Hami O's for 1 reason only, but find an added benefit.

The main reason, is it just saves me a slot. Before I was 4 slotting those powers, for better ENDRED and DEF, getting the LotG set bonuses out of it.

The benefit is better ENDRED.

Confront is just a nice animation (I like Dual Blades animation anyways) combined with a usefulness of me holding an AV's aggro when needed (specifically STF's Recluse).

I also don't care about the speed of which I clear a map, but being able to clear it of all targets, this includes soloing AVs.

You're not the only one who took Confront on a DB/WP tanklike scrapper -- I like being able to pull bosses and AV's off squishies when I'm too far away to go get them the "usual way." (And I like the DB Confront animation as well -- I just played my claws scrapper the other day and hated their version of Confront, probably because I'm so used to DB and katana animations.)

Still, there probably aren't a lot of people who build DB/WP scrappers for maximum survivability, and to aggro control and tank, and to STILL generate massive enough DPS to solo AV's and pylons as we have. "Survival tank AV builds" -- as cool and well-thought-out as yours is -- are a little more of an extreme set-up than the "I wanna live a little longer while I stab stuff for big orange numbers" builds a lot of scrappers aim for!
