So my sonic/sonic :/

I;m getting better with Mids but I'm still at a bit of a loss with my sonic/sonic defender.

I've slotted for Def because, well because it's defense. But I'm not sure about the final build. I'm not even suyre what to build for. My sonic has become not so fun on teams, at lvl 50 nowadays my shields are hardly much difference for most teams. I'm thinking of more solo play which will null 5 powers out of my primary, but at least it might be different. I've checked the guides here and have a pretty good defense toon, but is that what i should be slotting for?

Heres' the build. It's a bit end heavy but I can't find the slots for more end redux.

First option: you have 3 builds. For suggestion, you could have your tricked out team build, generic IO solo build, and a third build for whatever wacky static team fun you might fun.

You have plenty of resistance based powers you could slot some of the resistance IO uniques such as Aegis psi resist/status to plug that sleep hole in your mezz protection. You can get some sleep resistance from tempest in ranged attacks. Detonation has sleep resistance. I am pointing this out since your big 'hole' is a whopping zero status protection at this point.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

I agree with this advice, and I would like to add that, the Aegis psi resist/status unique IO is one of the most efficient investments you can make for any Sonic Resonance builds.

Endred is one way to deal with end usage/net recovery. You can also work on +recovery and +max end with set bonuses. And honestly I'd worry less about defense (for a teaming build anyway) and more about improving your net recovery.

I do have a Sonic/Sonic Defender but my Sonic/Sonic Corrupter is the character that is there buildwise and so I took an interest in your build.

I thought it best to open up ya build and question everything you did.

Shockwave - I used this to defend myself, just a case of mobs getting passed Tanks/Brutes and me knocking them away. You're going to have a lot of defense to the main two attack types ingame + Control so shockwave not so needed, plus if it is I might of opted for the slotting that improves the difference between end loss and end gain.

With so much S/L def I didn't think it was that important to go for other dam types so slotted to improve end rec in barrier and haven.

The importance of Amplify, sometimes you do need a bit more damage, it saves endurance does doing more damage per end as you reduce the total number of attacks you need to use + when it comes to landing debuffs reliant on accuracy you might want to improve your chances of hitting.

Hover, I'd say that with enough KB protection, a fast moving team, chance of immobs combat jump is better, sure if you are solo aerial kiting you might want to hover but when you are I doubt with the amount of defense you aim to obtain that you need all toggles on and so can use fly. There are those with -Fly but you have control powers, put them out before they -fly you.

You had Assault and Manuevers, I didn't with all your def see the importance of Afterburn so changed it for Vengeance. Every so often, there might be a mishap you might not be able to do much about. I mean where is your res against Psionics? No there isn't any, so when a mate say Tank goes down there doesn't have to be that oh bleep, you softcap everyone. Sometimes this can be a saving grace as you were low on end virtually, you could do with better end rec and this allows you to calm down on toggles except the important ones. Add to that when everything else ya had didn't quite work its something to maintain the rest of the team in a crisis.

Now that I have explained my thinking I'll produce a suggestion.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

I made some minor-ish modifications to get you to s/l softcap and up your range def a tad. This was at the expense of some recharge which I think is reasonable given that a sonic/sonic isn't a "needs moar recharge" combo. Only Liquefy begs for recharge.

In case it needs to be said - Cardiac Alpha is the way to go.

Anyway, you've got a character that's going to be very sturdy.

So any input?

Actually, that build looks really solid. I can make a few tweaks that would improve it, but that sorta assumes a play style like mine, and so of course your mileage may vary.

First of all, I want to address a comment you made other than your build. You mentioned your shields hardly being much difference on teams. This is wrong, and sorta right, too, but when you're right, the conclusion to draw isn't the one you've reached, anyhow. By that I mean, at lvl 50, nobody makes that big of a difference on a lot of teams. The tank can AFK and the team will still roll. The dark def or corr can forget his tohit debuffs and fears and fluffy, and the team won't notice. The rad can forget his debuffs, and the team won't blink. The force fielder can not re-bub, and nobody will care. The scrapper can focus on chatting in his global channel more than anything else, and things will just keep going the same. Etc, etc, etc. At level 50, most teams are far overpowered for normal content. It's only going to be noticeable if everyone decides to phone it in at the same time that you'll have problems. Or if you face one of the enemy groups that just happen to hit your weaknesses. In cases where things ARE pretty tough, though, your shields are going to be VERY useful, on most teams. Lots of folks build for +Def vs all the common types. And then have crap for resistances, especially vs anything other than smashing/lethal. You get most alts with zero resistance most of the way toward the resistance cap, and that layered with any defense they already have makes them uber tough.

OK, so, on to your build. I agreed with you to slot for Defense, and Recharge, and with a lot of other folks, to try and get the end situation pretty friendly. But, seems to me, your endurance issue isn't near as bad as it looks. In a team, you can always stop blasting for a moment or two, and that will help a lot, or detoggle the hula hoop for a few seconds if more extreme action needs to be taken. If you're solo, you know that the hula hoops isn't going to be in play, and so turning that off for evaluation purposes gives you a truer picture of the endurance use/end recovery situation. And just with turning that single power off, things look much better.

That said, I tried to make a few minor tweaks to your build, to improve the end situation and defense further, without making any drastic changes in either cost, or power selection. I did add in an Enzyme Hami to get more out of Maneuvers, but that's easy enough to ignore, as it truthfully didn't make a huge performance difference, and last I checked they were pretty pricey. Otherwise, cost difference is minimal. I did lose Afterburner for Combat Jumping, and Shockwave, for Amplify. I also stole a slot from Sonic Cage (which is still effectively perma, for when you need it) to up your Stamina slotting. I moved your +stealth to Sprint so I could free up a slot from Hover to move it to Combat Jumping. Moved the BotZ -KB to Fly, and that allowed Soaring to be put in Hover for better move speed, and pick up some minor +Recovery. Amplify gets the Gaussian set. You lose some recharge and regen, and gain HP, Recovery, Damage, and Defense. It also allows you the Damage Buff about 25% of the time. And the chance of a build up on top of that is just gravy.

Well, have a look at it. I think it's a net improvement, but in all honesty, it's a fairly minor improvement. As I said at the start, it's looks like a very solid build already.

Thanks for all the idea's guys. I've got afterburner for concepts reasons and shockwave is also my "Get he hell away from me..." button. I'll keep poking at it.

I know that as the arms race keeps growing shields, well all buff really, will become less and less an issue outside of 50+ content. I was just griping a bit.

Thanks for all the help again.
