What to use to soo AV's?

As stated I'm wanting to make a tank and try to solo AV's, I haven't tried to do it before on any of my tanks I curently have, but thinking I want to make a new tank just to build strictly for this purpose. I've got some ideas in mind, but I'm not wanting to post any builds yet because I'm wanting to wait to get some feedback from others about what they think are some good combos to use for this, and I'm going to be making a whole new toon so I might change my mind on some of my choices in the build by that time.

With that being said, I would like to let you know what I've been considering anyways
For primary I've been thinking Elec or Fire
For secondary DM, StJ, or SS

Out of those combos atm elec/dm is really sticking out to me, will the -tohit work well enough on an AV to make it helpful though?

If you have any other suggestions feel free to let me know then and why.

To finish it off also let me know what power pick I would need from epic/patron to be able to pull this off or atleast help make it easier.

After I've decided, and get close to getting him finished off I'll post a build to get help on the finishing touches to make this an easier task (definetly need help on attack chain with whatever choice I go with, not sure how to find the best attack chain out) feel free to give me the formula for attack chains also if you want and have time to explain it!

Thanks in advance!!!

I believe...but I'm not completely sure...that SD/DM is the best Tank for soloing AV's.

I've taken down Chimera with my WP/SS Tank...but it took a long time.

As mentioned, SD/DM has a good record for AV soloing. I've solo'd a couple on mine, you just need to make sure you have Soul Drain fodder handy.

I've solo'd Chimera with my Elec/Stone tank. But I think a large part of that was have Tier3 Reactive for some nice DPS boost.

These were all IO builds, of course.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

Prior to i20, I was able to solo midde of the road AV's such as Battle Maiden, Chimera, Bobcat, Infernal, etc with my Inv/SS. Now, with the -Res from Bruising, Muscular Alpha, and Reactive Interface, I can solo AV's like Lord Recluse. The only AV I've tried now and cannot finish is Statesman. It's a Dull Pain/Unstoppable hell that I'm not able to overcome. AV's that do Psionic damage such as Malaise I know I couldn't defeat either.

With incarnate pets, you should be good if you can deal a decent amount of damage and survive. A SD/DM is a great combo. With the scrapper version, I have soloed most of the hard content in this game, including every level 50 hero arc at +2/x8/AVs, MoITF, all of the regular GMs, etc. A tanker may have more trouble overcoming villains with large amounts of resistance, but will deal with high damage mobs better. Street Justice will also put out good numbers, but may not be as survivable with Siphon Life's heal.

What lvl AV is considered to be a good defeat using a tank?
I decided to try it with my SD/SS tank and went through Infernal pretty easily, of course I had dropped the diff. down since it was my first attempt with this toon.

Afterwards I started farming the BM map set at +4x8 hoping for some good drops (been atleast 6 months or longer since I've gotten a purple receipe, know any good missions or ways to get them?). Wasn't getting anything good to drop so I started getting curious and went after BM. Knowing there's no way I'm going to defeat her as a lvl 54, I still wanted to see how I could survive. I was able to get her HP down to 75-80% (I know that's still alot but I was surprised I even got it to that). With BM's HP bar sitting around the 75-80% mark that was pretty much all I could do. Tried for a bit longer she stayed the same and I survived everything she had to throw at me (which was the main test).

With all that being said, does it seem possible for me to beat her at a lower level? But the main question, what level does the AV's need to be in order to make it a satisfying victory if I'm able to pull it off?

Thanks!

The only one that can answer that question is you. Personally, I've always been happy with level 50 AVs - not a big fan of "fake" difficulty through increasing enemy numbers and decreasing your own numbers, and raising the level rep does just that. If needed to, I prefer to fight multiple AVs at once than raise the rep, but for most of my alts a single AV remains a significant challenge.

Shield/Street Justice might be a good one.

Actually, Anything/Street Justice might make a good AV soloer.

Street Justice has the potential to hit 70% -res, 30% consistently, with an attack chain of Initial Strike->Shin Breaker->Rib Cracker->Sweeping Cross (with -res procs in Shin Breaker and Sweeping Cross)

The primary choice is largely a matter of taste, but Shield gives you added damage without sacrificing survivability, so it's a good compromise. Fiery Aura would be the top for damage, provided you can meet the survivability requirements with it.
