Alchemy Powersets
Don't really know how you'd be able to represent alchemy in City's animation system.
I have seen a lot of people play Poison as an alchemy set though.

I play Earth Control with some power customisation as atomic transmutation - turning the air into diamond or chlorine gas and so on. Its a more science-based concept, kind of like Firestorm from the JLA when coupled with Energy Assault.
Is that what you meant by alchemy, or are you referring to some other source material?

I'm having some trouble wrapping my mind around what you mean by "Alchemy melee style fighting" - can you flesh that out a bit?
Also, you state you want your proposed set to be "something like magic/sorcery". Magic is an Origin, not a powerset. I have characters with Magic powersets ranging from being able to set herself on fire and summon a firey sword and firey punches (fire/fire tank) to a Bane Sidhe (sonic/dark corruptoe or blaster) to summoning the dark powers of the netherworld (various dark melee or darl blast/manipulation alts) to casting spells which used to be the sickly yellow green or Radiation before I could recolor them, in addition to the previously mentioned Demon Summoning and /Poison MM (the latter also summons Zombies,grave knights and a Lich).
Almost any powerset and any AT can be defined as "magic" with the right backstory. Your vague request for a magic or alchemy powerset doesn't really give us much to discuss. Can you add more description?

Sounds like you just got off a FMA kick. I don't really see this working in game. They might as well just make a Magic Casting powerset with hand sigils and swirly bolts.

Actually, now that I think about it, doesn't Ninjitsu for Stalkers have at least one fancy hand jive thing?
The idea came to mind a few days ago for me. I haven't thought too much on detail, but I do like the thought of having Alchemy powers in the game. To me it seems like it could work for a lot of Archetypes, like Alchemy Manipulation, Alchemy melee style fighting, or possibly a Mastermind set using transmutation Alchemy.
