Interesting, I rebooted the game and the problem went away. Still getting the matrix-like animations for dual pistols, but the dark miasma animations are fixed. No more black swirly bubble.
Last night I played my dual pistol/ mental blaster. For piercing shot and tier nine attacks the animation seemed broken.
Instead of the smoother changes it looked as if overlayed on dark model. Her costume is all white and the animation with those attacks did not display properly. Seems you might have had the same problem. I will test with a reboot to see if it happens again.
I just respecced my D4 last night, and while I did not see any of these symptoms you are describing, I hope these are merely graphical, and not mechanical.

Guide to Dark/Dark Defenders
I log in today to play and it looks like the animations are all messed up on my dark/dp defender. I know about the issue with the dual pistols animation looking like it's from the Matrix or something, but now my tier 2 attack looks like the tier 9 attack, and I have a HUGE annoying swirling black bubble around me as soon as I drop tar patch on the ground. What the heck is that? It's so annoying I had to log out or risk getting nauseous. As well, since it's black, you can't see what's inside it with you if you get close to mobs.
Anyone else having this issue?
