I found the characters of the family clichéd, dull and completely lacking in chemistry but the plot lines seemed interesting enough that I'll give it a few episodes at least.

I think I'm also going to have to go with the, "They aren't in a parallel universe" theory as well. Expecting a probe to last for 85 million years is not really that feasible an idea. Pretty doubtful that anything Man can make would last a million years, let alone 85 million.

That son really irked me. Played right into the stereotype of losing his damn mind if a pretty girl even bats her eyes in his direction. Of course, that does happen in RL. He reinforces the idea that all guys should be locked into a barrel at age 13 and not allowed out till they are 30.

Haven't seen this yet, which is weird considering I'm viewed as the pop culture geek in my family and everyone else in my family has been watching it and liking it.

I'm sure I'll hate it. >.>

Not only are they not in a parallel universe but we'll probably learn there's some secret way for people to go -both- ways through the portal. That's probably why Commander Taylor needs the "meteoric iron" from the Sixers because it'll be used to build the portal machinery on the Terra Nova side of the portal.

I loved how we saw that touching scene with his 2149 girlfriend and how he was all upset he would never see her again then 10 minutes later (almost literally in real time) we see him getting "involved" with a new girl in Terra Nova. I guess the only thing that doesn't make it totally laughable is that I suppose today's typical teen-aged boy only has about a 3 second attention span anyway.

The extra special funny thing about this nauseating teen angst is that we already know that in about 4 or 5 more episodes we'll find out his old girlfriend won the Terra Nova lottery and ends up there to be the awkward third member of teen love triangle. God the idea of it just makes my stomach turn.

It'd be even better if they sparkled in sunlight.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

But we also got to see nervous-girl-with-a-crush stereotype as well. Nevermind that she's 15 or so (or at least younger than Wangst) and the guy has to be about 23ish.

In reality, the whole Terra Nova project will turn out to be the 2149 equivalent of Survivor. Only with real surviving. Not plopping yuppies outside of the house of someone who has lived there for their entire life and telling 'em to wing it.

I think I saw a continuity error in the show as well. When they are in the line for the portal, there's a point where they tell 'em to drop off their air filters. We see Wangst drop his off, but a little bit later, he's walking in the line with it around his neck. A little bit later, it's not there.

Yep that "relationship" looks like a near-exact rip-off of the brainy Judy Robinson with soldier Don West thing from the 1998 Lost in Space movie. The guy, who does seem too old for the girl in this show, even almost looks a little like Matt LeBlanc did in the movie. BTW "Wangst" is a great name for the older son.

This show devolving into a thinly-veiled Survivor rip-off wouldn't surprise me in the least. Either behind the "fourth wall" or not.

I was groaning too much at the "dramatic tension" that was supposed to be going on in that scene to notice.
