Anyone know of smaller online reputable anime retailers?

I'm trying to find some anime dvds that are out of print and not having any luck whatsoever. Just wondering if anyone knows of websites that may not show up in a Google or Bing shopping search.

In particular, I'm looking for Urusei Yatsura 27, 41, 43, 44, 45, and 50. I could get #43 on Amazon, but I am NOT paying $100 for a single disc.

TIA.

They don't have the ones I'm needing. I've already tried Half.com, Best Buy, Tower, Overstock, eBay, eBid, Buy.com, Borders, Anime Corner Store, AnimEigo's website, etc. I'm looking for the hidden gem sellers.

Like I said, I've tried Google Shopping and Bing Shopping. I'm looking for places that wouldn't show up on the results there, yet are reputable enough. Meaning if they show up on either of those two search engines, I've seen 'em, so no need to suggest 'em.

Did you try www.yesasia.com ?

I briefly looked and they do have UY DVDs - some are Region 1 and others are Region 2. Assuming you're in the US/Canada, you'll want Region 1s.

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ may have some also. Just make sure they're the proper region.

*thinks... where else to look...*

You could also try: http://www.animenation.com/

Hope that helps

Thanks, but those are busts too. I'm utterly mystified by the fact that the discs I need are so blasted rare. And they're just so random.

I could buy these complete sets I see, but $800 (or more) is just absurd. I could try and sell the extra 44, but that is a ton of work with no guarantee.

What irks me is that I remember seeing the whole series as a box set on clearance maybe a year or so ago. I thought it was deepdiscount.com that had it, but they don't have anything for the series.

And yea, the rarity of those volumes is totally weird. I'm pretty good at finding anime and I've been wracking my brain for the last hour trying to figure out who might have these.

You might be better off just torrenting the series and making your own DVDs :P

I'd also check any local Brick and Mortar stores, like FYE or Suncoast Video (if they're still around) or Barnes and Noble and see if any of them might have them on the shelves.

Torrents are not happening. I don't engage in that, so...ya.

What I'm thinking is along the lines of a mom-n-pop shop that sells a bit of everything. A little store that has a website and would be pretty much overlooked by everyone. Suncoast is no longer available online, instead it goes to FYE.

The nearest possible store that would even perchance to have anything related to anime is an hour drive (one way). One of the downsides to living in a small town is that for anything specialized like this, I have to travel a fair distance.

It seems as if AnimEigo printed up like five copies of each of these. And four of which went to rental places. I'm not against used copies, but chances are if they're used, they won't have the liner notes included. That's not to mention the probability of being in less-than-acceptable condition.

Volume 45 appears to be stock. No-go on the others.
I can see a typo in their website. Home->Domestic Anime DVDs->Satrt with U. Lots of typos combined with some odd phrasing on their Help page as well.

That one doesn't seem to engender confidence.

@_@

Yea, I guess I'd stay away from them too...

As I said, this is irking me also... so I'm gonna check with a friend when I get home later. He may have some sources that I don't know about.

Will keep you posted...

Well thank you very much for the assistance. And to everyone else in the thread as well.

This is one of those things that I really wish I had gotten a handle on last year or so. I had the first five or so discs for a long time and never got around to buying the rest. Been on a spree since I saw that they were going OOP. And now I'm paying the price for my laziness.
