So its 1:40 and it says maintenance will take place 4:00 A.M. PACIFIC..... WDF??

The first news item on the main page of the website is the aforementioned 1:30 AM PDT maintenance. It is not the "regular" maintenance mentioned on the server status page. The fact that it is irregular is, indeed, why there is an announcement in the forums and on the main website about it.
