You need to wait for your first subscribed month to be up to get the Paragon Rewards token. Not sure about the points. There are alot of unclear things at this point.
From what I understand if your subscription starts on (for example) Sept 15th, then you will get your points on the 15th of each following month that your account is active. Not sure how the reward merit is currently being awarded.
so I renewed last Friday, so it will be 30 days from then? Will I still get the points if I do not continue from then? I know, a lot is unclear, a redname would be so helpful

you'll still get your points and your Paragon Rewards Token if you unsubscribe. Unless it happens to be bugged.
Last question for now (Yah right). when it goes to free to play, i understand you will only be allowed to use X number of characters. Will you be able to choose ones you have already made as part of that number??

But if you want to play a Controller, MM, VEAT, or HEAT, you have to have those unlocked as well. So if you want to play your Arachnos Soldier, you need to unlock the slot and have the Villain EATs unlock from the Paragon Market.

Hey. got a couple questions about my VIP Status, and the rewards for it.
I recently renewed my subscription, but I did not get either my paragon points or my reward merit. Do I need to wait for COH:F to be a month old, or is there something I did wrong?
