Since you've paid money, you shouldn't be a free player, you should end up a Premium player. As far as Controllers goes, though, I think you'll be able to keep playing a Controller if you've made one, but you'll have to buy Controllers to make new ones.

Any controllers you make on a new account while it's VIP will be locked after you drop to Premium, and you will not be able to play them or to make new ones. You'll either need to purchase the unlock in the Paragon Market, or earn enough Paragon Rewards tokens to fill ((IIRC) Tier 5 of the rewards tree.

This, as far as I know. (You might have to try it and tell us.) I'd suggest looking into Dominators, which play similarly to Controllers, and don't have any premium restrictions. (And Dominators are, arguably, better than Controllers.)
I have recently purchased this and will be using my one month free that was included as a VIP. My question is this:
If after my one month is up I decide to go the free to play route, if I have chosen a controller archtype, or another that isn't available to free players, will I still be able to use that character?
